“complete waist of money and time! early flight home”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

hotel betania has to be one of the worst hotels i have ever stayed in before in my whole life! with bed and breakfast being tea and soggy toast if your lucky enough to get this! the rooms were discusting when we pulled the draw out it would fall sgtraight on the floor, we had a warddrobe with roughly 3 hangers, the baclony doors did not lock, the bathroom window did not even lock let alone close, the lamp did not switch on =, the bath tub was sooo small if you led in it your knees would be touching your chin, the worst and most dangerous off all was the celling fan not only did the blade move so did the wire it was hanging from! well thats enough about the room the security of the hotel was ridiulous!! anyone could walk past the reception even if you were not staying at that hotel. on e night there was a random man in this hotel who we had never saw before and did look very dodgy i did not feel safe at all, the bar in the resturant was not open at all and if you got the munchies whilst in the hotel at night then it was tough luck as they did not have any food facilities. as a result of this hotel it had put me off my holiday and not feeling safe made me egar to book the next flight home asap!! not suitable for young people and defanatly not suitable for children.

“excellent value for money, well placed, cheap and cheerful.”

we booked a four day trip to c.del sol and needed s/c accomodation. When we saw how cheap the Betania was,we were a little bit dubious but it turned out to be cheap and cheerful and good value for a short trip. We had a small room on 2nd floor which had a great view over the rooftops to the sea. If staying for a week or more you'd be better off in one of the larger family rooms on higher floors but for our 4 day stay it was fine. The room and bathroom were really clean as the maids came every day,we asked for extra pillows:they arrived within minutes and also they delivered early morning calls on time which really helped. We can't rate the breakfast(the only meal they offer) as we were on R/O rate. The other facilities are as follows:
Pool round the back of hotel, small,it was drained while we were there so we cannot say when they fill it
Terrace nice and large offering great seaviews although some rooms double as having this as their terrace so you could open your window to find a sunbather right there.!
Internet room 2 computers on 24hrs but the rate to use is quite high 1euro for 10mins.
Bar not particularly nice closed Tuesdays. The one night we did venture in there we found an organ! and nearly frightened the barman out of his wits as he was behind the tv trying to find some music for a bit of atmosphere! There are better bars out there incl.Bar 76( on main beach road to the right of Las Arenas hotel which does great food and offers 2 4 1 on all drinks until 9pm and a free bottle of wine if you order 2 main meals!)
There is a safe deposit box in room which is charged at 2.5euro a day
Overall, for a short break its good value for money and a good location.
As its quite tricky to find heres some directions;
If you are travelling down the main beach road towards Fuengirola, turn right at Las Arenas hotel and then 2nd left and you'll find the Betania a short way down on the right.
If you arrive by train at Arroyo station, which we did, make your way down to Paloma park and work you way round the right hand side of the park. You'll get to a roundabout next to the Bellagio time share resort.Turn right down the hill and then 2nd right and you'll find the Betania.

“Not a winter Hotel”

Just back from a week at this hotel and while it was clean it is very basic and would not go there again in the winter as there is no heating in the bedrooms. We asked for a heater but they had none. Be warned

“good location using it as a base to see local area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2010

We arrived late on friday night, so did'nt really know where we were in relation to resort. on saturday we went down for breakfast a little late and thought we had missed it, all there was left was toast, jam and coffee, on sunday we were down early(ish) all there was left was toast, jam and coffee!!! we then noticed other guests with their own goodies. that set the trend for the week. the room was extremely small and we had an army of ants to share with us! they were that friendly, they decided to join us for breakfast on thursday morning. all over the microwave!! the weather was good so room size was not an issue. the location is excellent. the beach is spotless. dont get too excited about the hotel shop, its a henekien drinks fridge! we never saw the bar open. its true you get what you pay for! but overall we had a giggle as we always do. make sure you go up the hill to the town, some good bars and restaurants. and paloma park is a must, very tranquil. visit Chesters bar at least once, cheap Kronenbourg, (80 cents a bottle! wow!!) and have a chuckle at Rodger the dodgers gear, tartan pants!! gotta have some of them! very friendly and welcoming though.dont forget to take ant powder with your toiletries!

“you get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2010

we only paid £24 per night so can't grumble. Room was small but didn't spend much time in it. Had a shared balcony unfortunately the neighbours smoked so woken up by the nicotine cloud wafting through our open bedroom window most mornings. Breakfast dreadful but most guests brought their own stuff in. Just bread and jam btwn Nov & March. Room service everyday however not very thorough as loads of hairs on bathroom floor from previous occupants. Fumes from bidet everytime flushed toilet. Staff not very communicative, we had an instance when we arrived back late at night to find that our room had been "cleaned" but they had not replaced the towels they removed., when asking reception for towels she just looked at her list said we had been cleaned and shrugged her shoulders, it took quite a battle to get some towels and even then being route marched to our room to check we hadn't really got some. Definitely would not recommend anyone stay in high season (no aircon) but ok for winter break. We will not go back ever again, staff all a bit weird, check out bloke who sits in breakfast room watching everyone, perhaps making sure no-one runs off with the jam.
