“Pleasant enough”

My husband and myself took our two grandchildren on holiday here in September 2011.

The room was fine, food - well, not as good I thought it would be - my daughter had been in 2010 and said the food was wonderful, but we struggled a lot there to find nice cuts of meat or fish.

The pools are lovely and the girls enjoyed the canoeing and the yellow rings. Tip - if you wait to around lunch time the rings were two for 6 euros instead of 6 euros each.

Entertainment was good day and night and in particular the hypnotist on the last night was brilliant. Met some very nice people there.

Was OK for what we paid in September as we got a good deal.

We are trying the Holiday Village in Egypt next month (because it is the only one open) and will let you know our thoughts on that one.

Enjoyed the holiday overall, we would go back but only at a good price.

Best staff you could ask for in a clean modern hotel.
The only down side is moany guests who look like they've never been abroad. Shameless meets Benidorm.

“Went as a single parent family, felt safe and happy; don't go self catering”

My advice would be go all inclusive if you can afford it. The location of the hotel complex is kind of stuck on a roundabout along the way to two towns. There's no local supermarkets very close by. Which created stress for me having to catch buses and taxis to the local town.

The hotel itself was lovely, the rooms very big and spacious. Air con inside. However the staff were a bit rude and checking out was a nightmare. Get this towel that towel bring it with you I had to go on trips about four times to get what they wanted.

The staff were rude and obnoxious. Tried to book dinner in the hotel restaurant to be told that it was full, when I'd arrived at the time to book it. I naturally got annoyed by this ; why have a policy if you can't stick to it and let people down?

However if you weren't self catering, and went all inclusive I think you got a lot of things included such as access to the gym, although I still spent less than I would going self catering rather than booking all inclusive I would pay extra to go on holiday and have less stress next time.

The kids club was good but I found it a hassle. After each 1.5 hour slot you had to collect them, sign them in and out, each time with a queue. And the staff it has to be said were very thorough with safety which is excellent. Although being on holiday I'd have preferred the time slots to be longer so I could relax more on my own and the kids play more. However other than that grumble it was excellent.

Met some sound people on this holiday, was nervous to go but came back happy and relaxed. The kids loved it!

The only fault of the hotel is that they don't cater well for self catering, like I said you don't go on holiday for stress and hassle.

Enjoyed some of the entertainment within the hotel.

The towel situation was ridiculous, they couldn't seem to put new towels in the room and I had to complain a few times.

Other than these grumbles, we had a good time. The pirate ship was good and the hotel resort clean and pleasant. Lovely views but not that close to a beach.

was looking so forward to yet another holiday village holiday. on arrival reception staff RUDE, but we let that go, our room was'nt ready but it was 11.30 am. The facilities on the video protrayed that they were all close together not the case a 10 min walk from main pool area, and everything all another 5 min walk from each other the pool at the pirate ship far too deep for my 5 year old so on day 2 we went back to main pool area. the beds were so uncomfortable took us 15 minutes to straighten up in the morning i am only 35 god love older folk. we had stayed in the portugal holiday village & facilties for children excellent but entertainment etc for adults @ night nil where as facilities for children at costa del sol terrible for children but good for adults at night but at the end of the day the kids come first wont be going back but portugal will be visited again
