Just returned from a weeks break in the Puerto, the staff were friendly , BUT we had a mix up over our meal time the german couple next to us were very rude kept saying English to their friends, we asked to be moved and we were but it spoiled our new year and we missed dinner for 3 nights and ate out. I know the Germans made up 90% of the guests but they were rude, didnt like the set dinner times, our room was lovely and the food was good, dont go there over xmas and new year but it is a lovely hotel,

Picked this hotel for Xmas break having used Riu hotels many times in the past and have always been happy with the food, etc.
The rooms were good as usual, with generous storage; the service in the bar and restaurant in the evenings excellent. HOWEVER, we had lunch in the snack area of the dining room on the day of our arrival and my pasta was very undercooked, not even al dente and the accompanying escallop was very tough, my husband has a pizza but found the base very difficult to cut - rock hard, The Christmas day dinner was magnificent. However on 3 of the preceding days the quality of the food at dinner was poor, cheap ingredients were used and the breakfasts duringr our stay never changed, with exactly the same ingredients cooked and presented in exactly the same way. It would have been better to have had better quality food all the time with just a slightly higher level in cuisine for Christmas Day. We like the area but will not be staying in this hotel again BECAUSE OF THE FOOD.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at this hotel over the Christmas period.
This is the second time we have stayed here and can say that if you want a relaxing winter stay in a hotel that caters more for the older generation then this is for you.

THE PLUS POINTS,
The price:- Booked direct with riu and very cheap for a hotel of this standard.
The staff:- First class, helpful and willing to go that little bit extra to make your stay enjoyable.
The Restaurant:- Lots of well cooked food to chose from, with tables allocated for the length of your stay.
The rooms:- Are of a reasonable size with a good sized and private balcony, our room faced towards the marina and was fitted with double, double glassing (quadruple) and was very quiet. As this was a mid winter holiday the heating was good and kept the room cozy in the evenings.
Smoking:- for the ones that do smoke (my wife included) you may smoke on your balcony and there is a outdoor smoking area next to the bar.

THE NIGGLES,
Parking:- We had a hire car for the duration of our stay and found the on street parking hard at times and had to buy the hotel garage parking for our last night which at 9.20 euro per night was expensive ( the underground garage has parking for about 60 cars but was almost empty). I do think if the hotel reduced this charge it would be a big plus for everyone.
TV:- Only 2 channels in English, I know that its hard to cater for all nations but I would be willing to pay a little extra for a sky type package.

All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

Excellent food, loads of choice and quality ingredients - excellent customer service as ever with Riu Hotels.
Quiet location next to the marinaand beach at point where Torremolinos ends and Benelmadena starts.
Clientele was rather aged - and mainly German but this was over the Xmas break....
Ask for a room on a high floor - third ...and with a sea view. We emailed ahead and the hotel met our requirements exactly which was very satisfying and impressive.
