“A Good Budget Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Arrived to find that reception was pleasant and efficient e2 per day for a safety box and a e10 deposit which was returned on leaving, asked for a high floor and was put on floor 6 overlooking the pool had a good view of the sea, the room had plenty of room to move around decent cupboard space, a TV which had the usual Sky News only, for the Brits. The housekeeping was excellent clean towels every day and plenty of hot water. We where half board the breakfast was good, plenty of choice, full english and continental on offer and the coffee machine actually turned out decent coffee, the evening meal had meat, fish choice in the usual various sauces, potatoes from chipped to mash and a salad bar, fresh fruit, cake, rice pudding, yoghurt, ice cream, now there was nothing wrong with the food and remembering its a 2 star it was a reasonable choice but it did'nt quite float my boat nothing spectacular but we didnt go hungry we tended after a couple of days to vary the meals by eating at various cafe's and filled in at tea time. The hotel is well situated, on the promenade side is the bus stop to 24hr square and the marina on to Torremolinos and Malaga, around the corner from the Hotel the bus stop up to Arroyo and Mijas, and across the road by the chemist the bus to Fuengirola and we found that the bus to Marbella stops at this stop also.
The Hotel does cater mainly for its Spanish guests so the entertainment
is geared towards this we found them polite but if your not up for "chatter"
go in at 7pm for your meal as they tend to eat much later. In all I would say that this is a decent clean budget hotel and I would use it again.

Room Tip: High Floor overlooking pool has a good view

“A good choice for the Costas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We needed one night on the Costa before flying back after a touring holiday and we dreaded what we would find, We saw the Balmoral and decided to try it as only 2 star. The price was very reasonable and the staff on reception really friendly and helpful - I cant understand comments about the rudeness of staff we found the opposite. Yes the hotel was full of elderly Spanish people but they were polite they certainly didn't barge us out of the way in fact the very opposite insisting that we went into the lift first! If anything being surrounded by polite elderly Spanish would inspire us to re visit - far better than being surrounded by drunken Brits!!! We had a lovely room that was spotless. If we hadn't had to be up early we would have spent time in the bar with the elderly Spanish folk as they seemed to be having a grand time playing cards and having a laugh. What we really liked was even though we were there only one night they gave us one of their best rooms.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool if you can get it,

“Not as bad as some make out”

Great cheap option, with breakfast, in the middle of everthing. we really liked our stay here. ok it was only for 3 nights and it was full of old folk but it was clean and comfortable, what more do you want. if you want five star i suggest you pay for it. we arrived and our room was ready, so we could just drop our bags and head out. old folks got a bit noisy at night, moving furniture and talking loudly but it didnt bother us. breakfast was good, plenty of choice and staff nice and friendly in the dining room and bar. pool area nice with plenty of sunbeds for all.

Room Tip: plenty of bars and eating places just round the corner. cash machine 2 minutes away by the gift shop...

Best to gete into restaurant when it opens at 7.30 each evening or before 8.45; it gets very busy after 8p.m. and 9a.m.

Room Tip: To see the sea ask for 5 floor or above on pool sea - we normally stay at room 705

“pretty basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

just returned from this hotel. The reviews i read were spot on. There was a lot of elderly Spanish but tha did not bother us too much. The food very basic but we always managed to find something although we were only there 5 days and that was long enough. The only downside we reported our balcony light was not working every day still not sorted by the time we left and only 2 lifts but 1 was out of order during our stay remaining only took 3 people or 4 at a push.
