First of all this is not the ideal hotel for the many British and US tourists that fill the southern beaches of Spain. The breakfast and in room facilities aren't at all prepared for them...

But considering the offer in the area, this is indeed the best hotel of Cartaya!

Rooms are spacious and very comfy.
The swimming pool area is very nice, but seems small as most of the stayers (at least during our stay) aren't here really for golfing, but for some sun (swimming pool or beach!).

The variety in the breakfast is non-existing and the policy of the restaurant for the dinner is a bit straight for the short offer they have (we wanted to have a salad from the bar served in the restaurant as one of us wanted to dine there and the other didn't really like the food offer, but they immediately said no... even if the restaurant was completely empty...)

This hotel is really the club house for the golf course but don't let that put you off as most of the people staying there during our visit were none golfers. The room we had was comfortable and of reasonable size but there are no in room tea/coffee making facilities and the in house phones did not work. The restaurant is very, very limited and a reservation is essential. We had some problems with dining one evening but these were resolved after some discussions with the hotel management. One problem we did find annoying was the continual malfunction of the electronic room keycard and this was by no means just associated to our own room. On the whole we liked the place and the staff were great. One thing more to consider. This part of Spain begins to closing down in September until Easter so restaurants and hotels are in short supply and those that are open tend to be expensive and pretty much the same. So, if you don't play golf there is not much to do around here.

It's the second time that I spend my holidays in this hotel, and really, really is the best option in that zone. Rooms are quite confortable with a lot of facilities. The hotel is located in a very calm place, so it is fantastic to rest. The unique problem is the service of the waiters, that they are not authentic professionals, so you have to arm with a lot of patience.

I don't recommend to go to the beach in front of the hotel, is better to take a car and go to Parque Lo Enebrales (near Punta Umbria), park close to the trees, and to cross the gangplanks to the paradise.

My wife and i have just returned from a week at the AC nuevo portil hotel, we went to play golf on various courses in the area. The hotel was very very good in many aspects, the room was very comfortable, clean and had a great shower. Ask the maid to change the TOWELS and they will be changed everyday but if you DONT ask it will be every other day.****PLEASE NOTE THIS HOTEL DOES NOT CHANGE TRAVELLERS CHEQUES OR CASH FOR EUROS we had to change them in CARTAYA 6 miles away at Bank de Santander. The golf cours at the hotel is the best in the area by far, El Rompido golf course was busy busy and in POOR condition, Islantilla course was also busy busy 5 hour round. Great area virtually untouched by tourism take a spanish phrase book little english spoken but we enjoyed trying out our little spanish we would return to this hotel
