Booking the hotel involved one or two minor problems. I emailed the hotel to find avaiability, but having had no reply after a week, rang them up and booked over the phone with credit card details. I was told to expect confirmation by the following morning. The next evening, having not recieved confirmation I chased it up and spoke to the owner who was in the UK. I was asked twice again for my credit card details over the next 2 weeks as the transaction hadn't gone through. It was eventully sorted.
The hotel is conveniently situated in the centre of St Gervais. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was plentiful, buffet style, with cereal, bagettes, cheese, meat and jam. Staff were british or English speaking.
We had a large, light room at the front of the hotel. The room itself was warm and clean. The bed was very comfortable and we had clean towels each day. The only thing that was a little off-putting was the thick layer of dust on the skirting board in the bathroom and the back of the toilet. There were no glasses for water, but they were happy provided on request.
The decor in the hotel is a bit tired and worn, though the communal sitting area was pleasant and comfortable and had a big TV screen.
The staff were particularly helpful and always happy to provide tea, book transport etc. and that is a valuable asset to any hotel.
