“Nightmare residence with blood stained linen!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We were terribly disappointed with this residence. The bed linen which we got had blood stains on it! (See photo) When we asked for fresh clean linen it was just laughed off but in the end we did get reasonably clean linen. However the towels also had yellow staining on them. We returned the towels for new ones and yet the second set also had yellow staining and black marks as though they were trodden on! (See photo) The apartment was very basic with telephone cable having been burnt which made us doubt the safety there as well. The curtain rail was broken with torn curtain and the sofa bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The shower was cold and there was no briefing on how to get hot water but instead they had signs regarding not using electricity too much which would increase the cost for them. The games machines simply took your coins and did not work. When we brought this to their attention they did return our coins but they failed to place a sign so that the next person would at least be aware of this. They failed to warn guests that there was building work outside which made it noisy. (See photo) There was also dust everywhere in the apartment on our arrival which makes us wonder what they take the cleaner money for at the end. The reception was closed during evenings (working hours 8-12 & 16-20) so nobody was there to help or answer questions during evening. We even tried their emergency line with no luck. The bathroom was mould around bath and dirty bath which made us clean it prior to use (see photo). It was such a failure on the basic factors of comfort and cleanliness and they have a lot to improve to get to acceptable standards which once they are there then only would we be able to get onto the specifics of giving suggestions of for example having some welcome teabags and biscuits and also having a proper directory with more information rather than telling guests not to use electricity in order to increase their profit!!

“Value for money”

We shared a 6-bed apartment which consisted of double bedroom, bedroom with a bunk bed and seating room with kitchen where sofa could have been unfolded to another double bed. I must say all beds had horrible thin hard mattresses and were very uncomfortable - the best bed was definitely sofa!
We had two balconies, enough space for a week, enough storage for our stuff and luggage and a clean and nice bathroom. Place was reasonably clean - bear in mind we had to do all our housekeeping and left the room cleaned after we left. Staff was not very fussy about it and returned the deposit without checking the details.
When going to Le Grand Panorama, you should be prepared - you need to bring your own towels and bedding if you don't want to pay for these, don't forget to check whether to bring single or double ones as they have both.
Place was really lovely, close to town centre and next to telecabine leading to the slopes, there was a bar nearby as well as small bakery and souvenir shop.
They didn't have 24hr reception which turned out to be a bit of problem, but nothing major. There was a sauna, which was clean and well kept but could only be used if someone was at the reception, and it was tiny (2 saunas, barely 2 people could sit in each). Pool table and seating area with open fire was available all day long and was very comfy.
The only thing I didn't really understand was why, as majority of rooms were empty, they gave us, 6 young people, a room next to an elderly couple. The walls were paper-like, which caused we couldn't even talk after 22.00, or they couldn't sleep if we did.
For money we paid it was adequate - big enough, clean, well equipped and well located, but next time I would rather pay a bit more and have better quality beds.

“Superb location and great value for money”

We chose these apartments for their location adjacent to the cable car, you could not be closer! Collect your ski's from the locker room walk out through the garage, across the car park and into the cable car up to the slopes. Perfect for our long wekend on the slopes! These apartments really do what they 'say on the tin'. 3* French apartment standard, very clean throughout. Reception is only open for a couple of hours in the morning, and from 4-8 in the evening, and the staff speak limited english but are very pleasant and accomodating. A tiny sauna (2 people max) is available but needs to be booked at Reception (private use).
Be aware that you need to pay for the hire of towels, bedding, tv control etc etc.
A local bakery is a one minute walk away for those breakfast essentials, whilst local shops including a small supermarket, and a choice of restaurants are available in the quant village a 10 minute stroll away.
The cable car accesses a large ski area linked to Megeve which provides a great range of slopes making this a perfect destination for mixed ablity groups.
All in all we were perfectly happy with our choice of accomodation and would not hesitate in going back.

Handy block of apartments across the Le Betex telecabine car park, so not far at all to walk to the snow.

Reception team very helpful. Fixed our hot water problem quickly and didn't make a fuss about the end of stay inspection.

Rooms lacked storage space in my opinion, and facilities were a bit sparse.

“Excellent hotel for hardcore slope lovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2008

We spent a whole week in a 9 person apartment on the 5th floor. The view was miraculous from the balcony.

The rooms were absolutely clean and you need to leave them in the same condition, otherwise you won't get your caution money back. Thus, every group tries to do their best. Some of the bulbs went out during the week but nothing serious happened.

The location could not have been chosen better. The main ski lift is located a few meters away from the hotel and it does not take more than 10-20 minutes to reach the slopes depending on the crowd. Additionally, all the necessary shops (bakery, grocery...) are in walking distance and there is a very good hockey stadium too where you can go skating to relax after the whole day skiing.

When you got bored of the nearly 200 kms of slopes you can easily go to the neighboring Les Contamines where 100-200 additional kms are waiting for you.

All in all, it was a great week.

  • Liked — Convenient location and the spirit of the place.
  • Disliked — If it rains outside or not freezing then wading through some mud is inevitable on the way to and from the slopes.
