We stayed there one week. We were 2 adults and 3 kids (7, 8 and 10).
We had chosen a house for 5/6 people. I believe an extra room would have probably been better for us but we wanted to stay close to friends who were there at the same time. Accommodations are grouped by style/size.
2550 Euros/week for a 45 square meters looked to me quite expensive therefore I was expecting a great quality of accommodation and service.
What was not my disillusion.
My first surprise was when we arrived. The house we had been assigned was 50 yards away from the parking. When I asked to the reception if they had anybody who could help carrying our luggage, they told us that it was not something that they could help with. I spent the next 15mn carrying our heavy luggage to the apartment.
What I didn’t know is that I would have to do the return trip soon after.
Indeed, when my wife entered the house, she realized that it was dirty and old. For sure not renovated as they had told me on the phone.
We had paid an extra 125 Euros for the Comfort Formula. It gets you beds already made when you arrive (first time I have to pay an extra for this) and a mid-week cleaning.
The beds were not made when we arrived.
The fridge was as if the last tenant had just left. Kitchen utensils were very limited.
We called the reception and asked if they could make the beds and clean the house.
They told us that the beds would be made in the next 2 hours but cleaning would have to wait the day after.
We asked them if we could move to a different house. Fortunately, there was still one house available. We checked it out and decided immediately to take it. Unfortunately we had to move further from our friends.
When we asked the reception if they could send somebody to make the beds, they answered that it was not possible as the Comfort Formula was attached to the previous house, a contract that they had not fulfilled. It looked like a mad house.
All the houses are the same, but apparently they are owned by individuals who rent them through Pierres et Vacances.
That means that over the years the quality of each one can differ. Some of them are slightly better equipped (in terms of kitchen utensils) than others.
Overall the reception staff always showed little comprehension of what service meant. I suspect that it is because P&V is basically a Real Estate company whose bottom line comes mostly from building houses and selling them, and incidentally getting a management fee for renting them.
When I asked the staff if I could get reimbursed part of the 125 Euros as the contract had not been executed, I was told that it was not the policy of the company.
There are 2 receptions in the all resort. The one in charge of the “Maisons du Golf” is barely opened. 6 hours a day in average. Don’t try to ask for something 1mn after the official close. They are long gone.
I noticed also that some days, both receptions are closed at the same time. That something quite unusual for this kind of resort.
I could mention a long list of small issues but I believe I have already made my point.
That’s a pity that the management does such a bad job because the location is great and the surroundings are beautiful.
The golf course is amazing. I took classes with the pro there ( Patrick Wibaux). He was very good. Fortunately the golf is run independently from the resort.
My kids went to the different clubs. I was first surprised to discover that they were entitled to only 6 half-days. My sons were quite excited to have all these activities. Eventually they decided to skip some of them as they were too boring. They spend half the week repeating the final day show. Unless your kid likes to perform in front of a public, this can quickly become uninteresting.
I have to acknowledge that the staff in charge of the children were very enthusiastic. My kids liked them a lot. They put a lot of energy on the shows they presented on different nights. We had good time attending these events.
Overall, we tried to make the best of a bad start. We decided that it was better to enjoy our time there and not lament ourselves. Vacations are too short to waste them.
The friends who stayed there with us had already been in one of P&V resorts in the South-East of France. They generally thought that Moliets was of a lower quality.
A final point I would like to precise : I am French. None of the difficulties I had with the staff were linked to any difficulty communicating with them.
