First, I must say that we overall had a great stay at hotel l´Hacienda. We stayed 3 nights, August 2008, in room Azuroise. The hotel is charming and the Charon family is very nice and accomodating as well as the girls working there.
However, a few things unfortunately contributed to a negative experience as well. First of all, when you book the room, you receive "a contract" and the hotel's full list of rules. And there were quite a lot... Including not eating or drinking anything but water in the room, do not arrive before check-in, hotel will not store your bags. I can understand that the hotel have had some negative experiences with guests making a mess in the rooms and that they have let this "strict regulation to proceed so in a natural way to the selection of our clientele" (mangement response Feb 13, 2007). However, other hotels handle that by charging people for extra cleaning and not by "pre-approving" their guests. I must admit that this is the hotel with the highest number of regulations I have ever visited. You can not even change your breakfast beverage unless giving a 24 hours notice.
In addition the hotel is very expensive and does not provide sufficient value for that money. We payed 150 euros per night for the room and breakfast was 12 euroes per person, but if you wanted eggs with your breakfast that was 7 euros in addition. Even pool towels (that could NOT be used at the beach) should be rented for 5 euros a day.
Like another reviewer has mentioned: Hotel l'Hacienda makes you feel like your staying in a doll house. In my oppinion, unfortunately, a doll house where you almost don't dare to play.
