Stayed 6 nights at the Vira, with two deluxe rooms. Initial impressions were great, was greeted at 11.30pm outside the airport by a bellboy who shuttled us straight to the airport. While checking in we were offered a welcome drink Both of our rooms were on the 4th floor. One room was tucked in the corner of the building on the north side, and with the way the corners go into the building the balcony was practically facing another balcony. This also made drying clothes outside too difficult as there was hardly ever any direct sunlight on the balcony. Also in this room we could not get a wifi signal.
The second room however was in the middle of the east side of the building, overlooking the pool and restaurant and getting ample sunlight to dry clothes. Despite being just around the corner of our other room, this room received a very strong wifi signal, strong enough to have a decent quality skype call over a smartphone.
The beds were alright without being spectacular, and the bathroom was clean. Other than the hit and miss with the wifi and balconies the rooms were satisfactory.
Buffet breakfast was very decent. Ample amounts of food of both asian and western varieties. The staff are always helpful and the room service is prompt. The menu is also very delicious and cheap. The pool is on the small side but considering that it's a small hotel then it's hardly an issue. Swam in the pool everyday of our trip and never encountered massive numbers of people in it or around it.
The best part about the hotel though is the location. Being located at the end of a main street of the tourist prescient it was both located a short walk or cheap taxi ride from everything while also not having a chaotic mess right outside the hotel. Less than a 1 minute walk is a Coco mart where the first thing you should after you check in is to walk there and stock up on bottled water, soft drinks and alcohol. About a 10 minute walk down is both Discovery Shopping Mall and Waterbom Park. If you want a meal and dont want to eat at the hotel take a walk and there are restaurants everywhere. Only negative about the location is that it's next door to a catholic church which rings it's bells very early on a Sunday morning.
Room Tip: Try not to get a room in the corner. I believe these are the rooms that end with 08 and 09. Lacked s...
