“great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

we stayed in a pool access room which we booked on line. free breakfast (basic but good) and airport transfers(well organised) were spot on. Hotel staff very friendly and helpfull. Room great size with well located large flat screen TV.Eats at the pool side were very good, but the cold coffee drinks were not as cold as we would like. Only a 10min walk to Discovery shopping centre, or $1 taxi ride! there is road and building construction going on but it was never a problem. We have stayed in Bali 10 times and this would be one of the hotels that we would recommend and plan to return to very soon.

Room Tip: Pool access rooms have a great sheltered and private patio with seats and although are about 5 paces...

“great place to stay in Bali...”

we went for our honeymoon trip & its our first time in Bali. we really impressed with the hotel service. our 1st impression about the hotel is we confirmed our date of arrival 3 months ago & we managed to get an immediate respond thru email from the hotel people. the time we reach at Bali airport we thought they might forget our arrival so we need to take a puclib taxi to the hotel but so suprisedly a staff from hotel were waited for us with our name. the staff there are very friendly and we got all the info needed from them. very clean and safe to stay there. we didnt inform that its our honeymoon trip earlier but when they got to know during our check in time, they managed to send us a sweet honeymoon cake to our room in the evening. they treat us very well. internet access is free. just took about 10 to 15min walk to the beach, shopping mall & art market. price of hotel is reasonable and i'll definately recommend my friends to stay in THE VIRA BALI in future.. thanks to the staff.

Room Tip: abt BALI., basically we found the cost of meals & souveinors at KUTA, BALI is extremely expensiv...

“"Feels like charter hotel anywhere in the world"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The hotel is quite ordinary with "normal" rooms (clean and satisfactory but not charming). We had a small balcony with a view over the swimming pool. I couldn´t help thinking it felt like we were on a charter hotel in Spain rather than Bali. If you like charter hotels and crowds of people hanging by the pool this is the place for you. If you like to see the balinese culture or feel more atmospere - go somewhere else!
The location is not so good. It is far to walk to the beach and there are a lot of construction work going on around the hotel. It is quite far to walk to the shopping area in Kuta square as well.
The best with this hotel is the staff at the reception. They were really helpful and serviceminded and they helped us booking ferry tickets etc.

“Good Value”

Stay for 3 night in Dec 2011. We had wonderful time there. Location wise well nearby is full of construction so it bit dirty but we take cab everywhere.
Staff is great, extremely helpful and friendly. They mostly able to speak some English.
Don't be fool by their pool access room. it mean your room will located at ground floor next to the pool. You cant straight away jump in into pool. (disappointing here).
Wifi access is great, we able to surf away in our comfort in our room.

Room Tip: no room pool access

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

Stayed 6 nights at the Vira, with two deluxe rooms. Initial impressions were great, was greeted at 11.30pm outside the airport by a bellboy who shuttled us straight to the airport. While checking in we were offered a welcome drink Both of our rooms were on the 4th floor. One room was tucked in the corner of the building on the north side, and with the way the corners go into the building the balcony was practically facing another balcony. This also made drying clothes outside too difficult as there was hardly ever any direct sunlight on the balcony. Also in this room we could not get a wifi signal.

The second room however was in the middle of the east side of the building, overlooking the pool and restaurant and getting ample sunlight to dry clothes. Despite being just around the corner of our other room, this room received a very strong wifi signal, strong enough to have a decent quality skype call over a smartphone.

The beds were alright without being spectacular, and the bathroom was clean. Other than the hit and miss with the wifi and balconies the rooms were satisfactory.

Buffet breakfast was very decent. Ample amounts of food of both asian and western varieties. The staff are always helpful and the room service is prompt. The menu is also very delicious and cheap. The pool is on the small side but considering that it's a small hotel then it's hardly an issue. Swam in the pool everyday of our trip and never encountered massive numbers of people in it or around it.

The best part about the hotel though is the location. Being located at the end of a main street of the tourist prescient it was both located a short walk or cheap taxi ride from everything while also not having a chaotic mess right outside the hotel. Less than a 1 minute walk is a Coco mart where the first thing you should after you check in is to walk there and stock up on bottled water, soft drinks and alcohol. About a 10 minute walk down is both Discovery Shopping Mall and Waterbom Park. If you want a meal and dont want to eat at the hotel take a walk and there are restaurants everywhere. Only negative about the location is that it's next door to a catholic church which rings it's bells very early on a Sunday morning.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room in the corner. I believe these are the rooms that end with 08 and 09. Lacked s...
