My first impression when I entered the hotel was the fabrics used through the spaces and the rooms.
An very interesting blend of organic materials, very soft linens (and I am not talking about the bed only, I am actually one of these persons that take the time to enjoy an aperitif at the hotel lounges if worthy), art, colors and what seemed to me the collection of some person dedicated to travel around the world and handpick beautiful objects.
I've been to many "boutique" hotels that are all about design etc etc but the Margi climbed the top my list immediately.
So all of this beautiful surroundings are very carefully lighten and created a sense of relaxation and admiration at the same time.
Those who appreciate the above will be delighted by this "game" of lights and fabrics throughout the hotel.
Check in as usual, I am not easily impressed by speedy check ins or champagne on arrival or whatever of this stuff that I can find all around the world.
What impressed me however was the personnel. I was judging too fast when I saw the staff who all looked impeccably groomed and charming and thought that I will have to deal with a snobbish attitude. It has happened in the past in a very famous hotel in Paris.
On the contrary all of the staff that handled my accommodation was earthy, honestly kind and very helpful not in that "sterilized hotel" manner but in an honest way. Me and my partner felt very comfortable and services up to our standards. Good job on the service and the concierge and definitely to the housekeeping.
Location is about 40 minutes from the center of Athens, although it took us more than one hour one day due to some riots in the center. It is close to the beach and some fine bars in the area. Should you wish to dine I strongly suggest to go to the center of Athens if you look for fancy restaurants and stay local if you want fish. The hotel's own restaurant is also very good with a blend of Mediterranean and French cuisine. The service at the restaurant is excellent and apart the tasty and carefully prepared they stock an excellent choice of wines. If you are out for drinks go to the area of Glifada which is 10 minutes by taxi and looks like a cheap Spanish town with all the neon lights adverts and so on, but behind that in small roads parallel to the main street we discovered some amazing cocktail bars with superbly crafted drinks.
Rates, are a little high for the suites but if you want to spoil your self and your partner definitely worth it.
Sleep quality, excellent bed mattresses and linen.
The pool area is a bit small like the other reviewers said but a swimming pool can be found home, so we hit the sea everyday.
Ask the concierge and they will give you directions to go to fancy beaches (astir) or nice and calm secluded sandy beaches(cant remember the names...).
The only reason I would stay at the pool are those munchies they serve at the bar and yummy mojitos with a choice on the rum to be used.
Overall a great experience which I look forward to live again!
