“A hotel for experienced travellers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

My first impression when I entered the hotel was the fabrics used through the spaces and the rooms.
An very interesting blend of organic materials, very soft linens (and I am not talking about the bed only, I am actually one of these persons that take the time to enjoy an aperitif at the hotel lounges if worthy), art, colors and what seemed to me the collection of some person dedicated to travel around the world and handpick beautiful objects.
I've been to many "boutique" hotels that are all about design etc etc but the Margi climbed the top my list immediately.
So all of this beautiful surroundings are very carefully lighten and created a sense of relaxation and admiration at the same time.
Those who appreciate the above will be delighted by this "game" of lights and fabrics throughout the hotel.
Check in as usual, I am not easily impressed by speedy check ins or champagne on arrival or whatever of this stuff that I can find all around the world.
What impressed me however was the personnel. I was judging too fast when I saw the staff who all looked impeccably groomed and charming and thought that I will have to deal with a snobbish attitude. It has happened in the past in a very famous hotel in Paris.
On the contrary all of the staff that handled my accommodation was earthy, honestly kind and very helpful not in that "sterilized hotel" manner but in an honest way. Me and my partner felt very comfortable and services up to our standards. Good job on the service and the concierge and definitely to the housekeeping.
Location is about 40 minutes from the center of Athens, although it took us more than one hour one day due to some riots in the center. It is close to the beach and some fine bars in the area. Should you wish to dine I strongly suggest to go to the center of Athens if you look for fancy restaurants and stay local if you want fish. The hotel's own restaurant is also very good with a blend of Mediterranean and French cuisine. The service at the restaurant is excellent and apart the tasty and carefully prepared they stock an excellent choice of wines. If you are out for drinks go to the area of Glifada which is 10 minutes by taxi and looks like a cheap Spanish town with all the neon lights adverts and so on, but behind that in small roads parallel to the main street we discovered some amazing cocktail bars with superbly crafted drinks.
Rates, are a little high for the suites but if you want to spoil your self and your partner definitely worth it.
Sleep quality, excellent bed mattresses and linen.
The pool area is a bit small like the other reviewers said but a swimming pool can be found home, so we hit the sea everyday.
Ask the concierge and they will give you directions to go to fancy beaches (astir) or nice and calm secluded sandy beaches(cant remember the names...).
The only reason I would stay at the pool are those munchies they serve at the bar and yummy mojitos with a choice on the rum to be used.
Overall a great experience which I look forward to live again!

Room Tip: If you can afford go for the suites on the 5th floor

“Fantastic Beach side Athens Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

I only had a few extra days while in Athens and found the most charming hotel right on the water side of Athens. It was only 45 min's outside of the city center but I felt like we were on a different island. Great beaches and restaurants within walking distance. Our favorite Beach was Astir Beach. It cost to get in but was the most beautiful beach with bathrooms, food/drinks (delivered to you), towels, and beach chairs/umbrellas. The restaurants were amazing too- what a jem!!!

If you have a view of the water, make sure to wake up one more to watch the sun rise- incredible!

Lastly, there is a natural water spring about 1 mile away. We walked there one morning and loved it! It was mostly elderly locals who come and swim there on a daily basis. Such beauty only a few miles outside of Athens!

Also, just to note the rooms/bathrooms are a little small. The bathroom has a European shower, so if you are my husband that always isn't the easiest in not getting water all over the place!

Room Tip: Some rooms face the water and have doors on the showers.

“We always look forward to going there.”

The Margi Hotel is our companies preferred hotel in Athens with good reason.....the main reason of which is that all the crews love it.

It's about a 20-25 min €30 ride away from Athens airport near a beach.

Don't be deterred by the exterior as its a bit 60's but the interior is very modern boutique and trendy. Reception is very quick friendly and accommodating with the small lifts being the only downside.

The Bar and restaurant is calming with the food excellent but pricey. During the warmer months the pool and poolside bar are relaxing places to while away the hours.

There is a beach a few minutes walk away with many bars and restuarants/tavernas but beware. Some of the cliff top ones are a rip off with crap food and even worse service so be careful.

You will fall in love with hotel and i know why.

“Excellent hotel”

The Margi is a lovely hotel and I would highly recommend. The public area's are magical in the evenings with all the candles and tea lights, so perfect for a romantic break. The food in the restaurant is fantastic and I just loved the melon martini's. The bedrooms are large, well equipped and have lovely large balconies, it was also soo nice to have a welcome note and gift from the management. The staff are attentive and very professional, while still showing a freindly warm side, so all in all this is an excellent hotel in and excellent location and I will defiantely be back there soon.

“Finally i found my home when i visit greece!!!”

What can i say about the Margi...Just perfect one of the best boutique hotels i visited ever and trust me i've seen many-many hotels due to my job.
From the first moment i felt like i was @ home.
The staff was friendly and helpful.Altough i was alone i never felt lonely and lost :)
I had a beautiful executive room very comfortable with a very nice view to the sea.
And the food....was amazing i almost gained 2 pounds through my stay there although it was only for 3 days
Unfortunately i stayed there @ the end of November and i did not have the chance to use the swimming pool and the summer restaurant which seems to be master piece.
One thing is for sure...that from now and on i'll demand from my company to book me here
Margi...can't wait to come again
