“Fantastic family stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

Janet met my husband, teenage son and myself at the airport as promised and whisked us back to her lovely homey home with a shady garden to relax in and a great pool. We just wandered along to the next door taverna for a good evening meal- and it all felt SO easy and relaxed after all the hassle of getting away and travelling. Just the perfect entry into a holiday! The next morning we played with the kitten by the pool, swam again, had a delicious breakfast and then Janet dropped us off at the airport bus-stop where we could travel on to Piraeus.
I couldn't recommend this more: Janet and her husband are lovely (although you can just sit quietly in the garden if you want some space), the bedrooms are comfortable and well-equipped and we all just fell for it. The perfect place for anyone travelling with either teenagers or younger children (and pretty wonderful for grown-ups too!)

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Although having you and your family stay with us in our home was a great pleasure and felt like having family members come to stay. I really hope that you will manage to come back to Greece and of course stay with us for a little longer next time. Our very best wishes to you all.

“Before St. Thomas, I was a B&B skeptic”

This was a fabulous place to recover from our long trip from Austin, Texas, to Athens. Janet is an incredibly gracious hostess. From the moment we met her, we felt like we had arrived for a visit with a longtime friend. Her home is beautiful and comfortable. We stayed in the Olive Room, and also had access to a small kitchenette area. The restaurant next door was perfect for a quick evening meal, and the breakfasts were delicious. The weather was beautiful, and we ate outdoors, surrounded by colorful flowers. Janet was kind enough to take us to the station for our ride into the city--a quick trip on a very comfortable train. The other guests that we met at St. Thomas were delightful. The St. Thomas B&B is just as beautiful as all the photos. A wonderful place--Thanks, Janet!

“Definitely deserve their #1 rating for a great place to stay”

Only had the opportunity to stay here for 2 nights: our first night passing through Athens to Crete and then mid way back through Athens en-route to Malta and had I known it was going to be such a great place to stay would definitely have booked additional nights in this B & B. After being en-route for over 19 hours to arrive the airport pick-up included in the stay was a more than welcome touch. Then to arrive to such a beautiful room - (we stayed in the Garden room on our first night) with a comfortable bed and spotless bathroom facility then to see the perfect garden with welcome swimming pool was an added bonus. Far too tired at this point to venture out for dinner, Janet accommodated us by ordering in so we could enjoy the setting and take a break before continuing our journey the next morning. On the way back through Athens 12 days later and with only an afternoon free to see the city center sights, again Janet was there to collect our luggage from us at the airport and point us in the right direction for the metro so we could maximize our time spent there that day and then picked us up from the metro station at the end of our day of sightseeing. The bar was set extremely high by Janet and her husband for making us feel so "at home" and comfortable in their home and hope that I have the opportunity of an extended stay there again for a longer period of time.

“Home away from home and near the Athens airport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

Four of us needed a place to stay for our last night in Greece after two weeks exploring islands. We had no desire to go back to the bustle of Athens. Staying with Janet allowed us to spend one last leisurely evening before the long trek home.

Janet takes excellent care of her guests. She's 10 minutes at most from the airport and happily fetches you and takes you back if at all possible. Peania is a small town and while not wildly interesting does afford a glimpse of middle class Greek culture. It is possible to walk many places but Janet will drive you if necessary. The taverna next door was closed the evening we were there. She took us to town, showed us our other dining options, then picked us up after dinner.

Janet and her family live in the b&b and it's a sprawling home cluttered with the life of a busy family. Beds and baths are not luxurious but they are comfortable in a "shabby chic" sort of way. Guests have the run of the house and garden. There are many comfortable spots to settle in.

Breakfast is simple and good. The morning we were there Janet got one couple off to Athens via public transportation then returned to take us to the airport. If we'd stayed at the airport hotel we would have missed out on incredible hospitality and a few more fun experiences. And that's what travel is all about.

“Best night's sleep I've had in years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2010

We arrived at the airport and the fantastic Janet was there waiting for us, as promised and free of charge. I've never met such a helpful and friendly B&B owner in my life! And the stay continued this way for the night which we spent at the St Thomas - Janet recommended a great Taverna a few doors down where we spent the whole afternoon and ate very well, then we went to bed early and as the beds were great

In the morning it was a fabulous home made breakfast eaten outside in the sunshine and then we got a lift back to the airport for our flight feeling great.

By comparison our friends were in the Sofitel for 200Euro a night without breakfast (and it is literally inside the airport so forget your evening stroll) and the rest of our group had to get expensive taxis into the centre of Athens and find their hotels only to have another taxi back to the airport the next morning. I can happily recommend the St Thomas as by far the best stop off for Athens airport and a great place for rest and relaxation. Thankyou Janet for your amazing hospitality.
