“WONDERFUL VALUE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

You cannot beat value for money at the Blue Sky in the Attica, Glyfada/Voula areas. We found the hotel clean, staff excellent (especially helpful with so many strikes during our Sept/Oct visit). Breakfast was a lovely start to the day and could be taken either inside or outside in the extremely well kept patio/garden area. If arriving at the hotel via the X96 airport bus, for convenience print off a small map of how to locate the hotel or another option is to remain on the bus to the 'main' Glyfada bus stop where you'll find taxis' - this could help get your bearings. Location wise the beach (Octupus Beach 6 euros pp is equiv to some US private beach clubs!), shops, supermarkets, trams and buses are all nearby. The icing on the cake for us was the receptionist Katerina - what a delight she was - very professional, helpful and amazingly originally from the island we were heading to, Patmos. The trip to Patmos was seamless, based on her solid adivce and directions to Uncle Theo's Yvonnis Studios (another great option if heading there). We now have direct flights from Scotland/Edinburgh to Athens and will be making regular return visits for long weekends and longer, if possible. If you are looking for a relaxing time and not too fussed about the 1 hour tram journey to Athens for sightseeing and heading for Voula Square (great coffee shops, shops and restaurants) after exhausting Glyfada - the Blue Sky is the hotel for you.

“An Oasis of Calm”

We loved this small hotel. We didn't expect too much as it was classed as a 2 star, but it exceeded all expectations. The staff were very friendly and helped us find places to eat and were only too happy to make phone calls for bus times etc. The bathroom was a tad small. The bed linen was extremely clean and changed frequently. Also, our towels were changed daily and they smelled nice! There was always hot water.
We liked the air conditioning and safe in the room.
Continental Breakfast was included in the price and there was plenty of choice. Cereals, cold meats and cheese, hard boiled eggs, breads, croissants, fresh fruit, juice and coffee/tea.
Although the hotel is around 15 minutes from the beach and an hour outside Athens, if you're looking for a peaceful night's sleep, at a very reasonable price, then this is a must-stay.
For €1.40 you can travel into Athens on the tram. Another good excursion is to catch the KTEL bus on the main road just past Katraki tram station and for about €5 you can travel to Sounio to see Poseidon's Temple. The scenery on the way is quite breathtaking.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

“A great value choice in a posh area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011 via mobile

Perfect little hotel. Very clean rooms with colorful touches, nice firm beds, and super clean and spacious bathrooms. Service is lovely and trendy neighbourhood (Glyfada) is where the rich athenians who detest pollution live. Bravo!

“We fell in love with Greece and the Greeks in this value family gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

The Blue Sky offers amazing value, though it is very well situated in the expensive leafy suburb of Glyfada, within easy reach of the airport by X96 bus. The road is quiet, (apart from what sounded like enormous crickets), yet within three or four blocks you are on the main street with some very smart shops and the wonderful tram line (1.20 euros into the city centre, 45 minutes). Then a further short walk takes you to a series of pleasant, uncrowded and unspoilt beaches. Stroll along to the livelier end and you find some really excellent and authentic Greek restaurants, bars and night life.
The English-speaking hotel staff could not have been more helpful and kind, going to a lot of trouble to research the next stage of the journey for my daughter - who was accommodated at the last minute in my room at no extra cost, except breakfast - what's more, when I left the owner allowed her to stay in our twin room at a very discounted rate as the hotel wasn't full. The room was ideal, clean and comfortable with a nice little balcony and efficient air conditioning. Breakfast buffet was plentiful (and the juicy peaches huge!) and could be taken on the terrace outside. Comforable sofas in the garden, surrounded by lovely flowers and rosemary bushes, were a good place to plan the day, and to meet up late in the evening with friendly neighbours who use the bar as a local, which adds to the delightful family atmosphere.
Can't recommend this charming little hotel highly enough - and we can't wait to go back!

“Very Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We rented a two bedroom suite for 5 family members. Booth rooms had a balcony and TV. Booth rooms shared one bath/shower. The rooms were very clean and AC made each room comfortable. The shower was small but not a problem. The staff was very helpful in giving suggestions and detailed directions. The breakfast was very good with a fair variety. The breakfast area has inside or outside seating. During the summer outside is only for the early risers. Area is upscale area of Glyfada but certainly not located near attractions. Public transportation makes downtown about 1 hour tram ride. Beware, a pick pocket got one family members wallet on the tram.
From the airport take the X96 bus and get off at the Pikpa stop, be sure to ask the driver to stop there since stops are not marked or announced inside the bus. The hotel is only a few blocks from this stop. Public and private beaches are located within walking or short tram ride.
