This is a modern, very comfortable medium-sized resort hotel on a pretty bay about an hour’s drive from Athens, and 45 minutes from the airport. It’s a place for a weekend if you have limited time in Greece, or day or two before or after a cruise, close enough to the airport and to the port at Piraeus. If you have a longer Aegean vacation in mind, this isn’t the place to spend all of it because the area has little charm. I’d say it’s a four star hotel on the international scale. If you’re thinking of a large Florida-style hotel, look elsewhere – like in another country. If you wat a hooel with big city services, find one in the center of Athens
The hotel is set back from the main coast road. The grounds are substantial and beautifully maintained. Half the rooms have a water view and almost all of those have a terrace. Rooms facing the road are similar in size & furnishing but the view is unexciting and they don’t have terraces. The rooms are modern, very functional and sparkling clean, as are the public areas. There’s a large pool by the beach. The beach itself is rather coarse, gravelly sand. At the beach there are tables, a stand for snacks & drinks and on the far side of the hotel away from the beach there’s a kids’ playground.
I was there for three days for a business meeting, and it was more than satisfactory.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The free WiFi works in the rooms, lobby and meeting rooms and unlike many hotel WiFi there appears to be plenty of bandwidth (although I was there mid-week in April, when the hotel was nearly empty). The room was 130 Euros, but it was definitely not high season. I didn’t try the restaurant except for the included, excellent and very complete buffet breakfast. Food served for the business meeting was very good but not gourmet. (That was also the case for the three restaurants I tried in Anavyssos, which had simple local items.)
The center of Anavyssos is an easy 5 or 10 minute walk along the coast road. Cross carefully to the sidewalk on the opposite side from the hotel – traffic moves at 50 or 60 MPH. The town’s few shops were not special. (But one review of this hotel complains about the town as if that was the hotel’s fault, which is unfair!) There are numerous restaurants along road and in the town, which is pleasant, mostly new, and kinda dull. Some of the restaurants have open pavilions on the water side of the road and a fully enclosed building on the opposite side.
