“Great hotel for big families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

It has spacious rooms, very clean.
The only downside is that its small, so dont just drop by. Reserve with anticipation since this city has many mexican shopping tourists and there are not many hotels, so on weekends is very crowded and difficult to find a room here.

The beds are great, and the rooms arevery clean.
Very helpful if you're travelling with many adults. You can find rooms with 2 bathrooms.
The breakfast buffet is great and plentyful

“Friendly Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

We stayed here one night (Jan 16th) and chose this hotel because this time we were bringing a pet along. The staff is very friendly and the hotel room was very clean. The rate was good: $99/night with an additional $75 fee for bringing a pet. They offer complimentary breakfast.that did the job. Can't complain, but we still prefer the Reinassace Casa de Palmas.

“Does the job”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

This is a basic Residence Inn. It is a little dirty and I had to change rooms - the front desk was super accomodating with this request. The staff are great and friendly. For a business traveler, it is does the job. Complimentary modem connection in your own room. There is a computer and printer out in the hotel's common area. The complimentary breakfast (not continental, but eggs, waffles, etc.) and dinner is very basic and certainly edible. It is next to an Olive Garden (easy walking distance), so you won't starve if you need something better.

“Great Stay...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2008

The staff at this hotel was very friendly especially Jamie the manager who booked rooms for me several weeks when they were supposedly sold out. The rooms were nicely decorated, good beds, curved shower rods and two TV's. I loved the large assortment of TV channels available since I was in McAllen for business and didn't stay out late. Kitchen was nicely equipped and useful for nights I stayed in and had left overs from the prior nights restaurant visits. Breakfast was good, eggs, sausage, biscuits or pancakes, a waffle and oatmeal station. I did not get in most nights to try the manager's reception but one night did try the freshly grilled hamburgers. I did not use the pool or workout room. I stayed 15 nights over 5 weeks. I would still be there but Marriott only offers 5 points per dollar at Residence Inn.

  • Liked — Kitchen in room and lots of TV channels
  • Disliked — Marriott points were 5 per dollar spent

“Lost our belongings”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2005

The Marriott Residence Inn had several problems during our month long stay. The treadmill was broken. Our television broke 2 days after our arrival.

Most importantly, the Residence Inn lost our items. We checked out Saturday evening and left approx 18 new, unused items in the kitchen cabinet--gourmet foods, specialty items, health foods, and spices. We called 2 hours after check-out giving them a Fed-Ex shipping number. We requested that they send the items to the Fairfield Inn, Odessa (We would be in Odessa the following day). We waited 2 weeks for our Fed-Ex package to arrive. We called the hotel after 2 weeks passed and they said they "lost" the items. They said I'm sorry and did nothing else. They didn't even bother to call us to inform us that they lost our items!!!!! We were still waiting for our items to arrive!

By law, the hotel is not responsible for the items. However, they acknowledged they had the items by agreeing to ship the items to us and by taking the Fed-Ex shipping number. This now means that, yes, they have a responsibility to us concerning these items.

I called the Marriott customer service to inform them of this issue. After 1.5 months passed, the Marriott Residence Inn has almost resolved an issue that could have easily been resolved in 5-7 working days. The manager failed to reply to my phone calls and emails. I had to make significant effort to get him resolve this issue.

He did the very MINIMUM to replace the items. He sent me a gift card with the minimum value I had placed on the items $35. We spent 28 days at this hotel. We are Platinum Marriott members and we gave them 28 days of business!..........They lost our items and in return gave us only $35 to replaced them.

It took 1.5 months to resolve this issue. Dates: November 2004 thru January 2005. Manager: Tony

***Please Note: The manager said that he would send another gift card. I called him 2 weeks later. He still hadn't sen the gift card.

I am currently staying at the Hampton Inn, Odessa. The manager here said that they ship items back to customers ASAP. She also said that the Hampton pays for the shipping.

****Please Note: Most hotels have a 90day lost-and-found. All new, unused food items go into the Lost and Found for 90 days. These items should have never been lost. They should have been mailed to us OR they should have gone directly to lost-and-found.
