The Marriott Residence Inn had several problems during our month long stay. The treadmill was broken. Our television broke 2 days after our arrival.
Most importantly, the Residence Inn lost our items. We checked out Saturday evening and left approx 18 new, unused items in the kitchen cabinet--gourmet foods, specialty items, health foods, and spices. We called 2 hours after check-out giving them a Fed-Ex shipping number. We requested that they send the items to the Fairfield Inn, Odessa (We would be in Odessa the following day). We waited 2 weeks for our Fed-Ex package to arrive. We called the hotel after 2 weeks passed and they said they "lost" the items. They said I'm sorry and did nothing else. They didn't even bother to call us to inform us that they lost our items!!!!! We were still waiting for our items to arrive!
By law, the hotel is not responsible for the items. However, they acknowledged they had the items by agreeing to ship the items to us and by taking the Fed-Ex shipping number. This now means that, yes, they have a responsibility to us concerning these items.
I called the Marriott customer service to inform them of this issue. After 1.5 months passed, the Marriott Residence Inn has almost resolved an issue that could have easily been resolved in 5-7 working days. The manager failed to reply to my phone calls and emails. I had to make significant effort to get him resolve this issue.
He did the very MINIMUM to replace the items. He sent me a gift card with the minimum value I had placed on the items $35. We spent 28 days at this hotel. We are Platinum Marriott members and we gave them 28 days of business!..........They lost our items and in return gave us only $35 to replaced them.
It took 1.5 months to resolve this issue. Dates: November 2004 thru January 2005. Manager: Tony
***Please Note: The manager said that he would send another gift card. I called him 2 weeks later. He still hadn't sen the gift card.
I am currently staying at the Hampton Inn, Odessa. The manager here said that they ship items back to customers ASAP. She also said that the Hampton pays for the shipping.
****Please Note: Most hotels have a 90day lost-and-found. All new, unused food items go into the Lost and Found for 90 days. These items should have never been lost. They should have been mailed to us OR they should have gone directly to lost-and-found.
