“Nice hotel for Interstate stop.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

We found this Hampton to be great for an overnight while blowing down I-20. The facility seemed well kept and clean, our room was fine and the young man on the desk at check-in gave us a great rate. He was pleasant & friendly & did his job well. (all of which are important to me) The early morning breakfast deal looked good too (another very nice person as well). Chain restaurants abound at this exit, as do chain hotels. This will be our preference in the future.

“Quality hotel if you have to stay in Marshall, Texas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

The hotel is fairly standard for a highway hotel. Clean, spacious room, breakfast bar are all fine. Staff was friendly. Wireless is spotty and changes password every night, which is annoying. Swimming pool is for viewing only. Best restaurant close by is Applebee, followed by main chain fast foods. Staff are friendly. Overall worth recommendation if you have to stay in Marshall, Texas.

“Not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

We went on a long road trip to Florida and spent many nights on the road. We stayed at a wonderful Hampton Inn not far from this one on the way down and was trying to make it back to the same hotel on the way back. The roads were terrible so, when we saw the sign for Hampton Inn we just assumed it was the same town (the other Hampton ended up being maybe 10 miles from here in a town called Longview).
We realized when we pulled up it wasn't the same hotel but, the roads were terrible and it was getting late and we felt it would be fine because it was afterall a Hampton.
Let me first say that this hotel is not bad... it is just in need of major renovations. It was quite dissapointing to go into the room and realize it hadn't been updated in years... unlike the other Hamptons we had stayed at that were totally new and had flat screen tv's. The tv was really old and the reception was not good... the bathroom was old and had no fan. The bed was super soft and older... it was quite saggy.
This was just an average room that was in dire need to an update... and normally I wouldn't care at all but, we paid quite alot for on old hotel that was near a highway. It was actually $15 more than the Hampton in Longview.. a Hampton that had been totally redone with nice big tv's and extremely comfortable new bedding.

This isn't some roach motel but, it isn't worth the money the charge, either.

“Just an average older Hampton”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

This is not a hotel that I would recommend, nor stay in again, if given a choice. It wasn’t bad, but was old and not exactly my kind of hotel. For business travelers this hotel was not ideal. My room (room 204), had only one semi-accessible outlet in the main room (it did have one in the bathroom), and one of the jacks was being used by the TV. So it was hard to charge phones and things in the night (had to charge things in the bathroom). The internet was slow, unacceptable really, but still very common. The noise level was acceptable. The cleanliness was also pretty good, considering the age. The housekeeping staff was good and cleaned my room in a good amount of time each day. The breakfast was stale. This wasn’t nice, I tried to have a bagel---stale, tried a pastry---stale. The bananas were good though. Overall, not horrible, but surely not good.

“Time for an update”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2010

After checking in, we were blasted with Febreeze as we entered our room. I requested another room that would be perhaps not so overpowering. The next room was the same way. We had to leave the door open to the hallway for about an hour just to make the air breathable. Once the Febreeze dissipated, it seemed they were trying to cover up a musty smell which I think is common in the area with such a high humidity. However, this hotel was not up to the Hampton standards. I wore socks throughout my stay feeling like the carpet was not clean enough to go barefoot.
