I was traveling to attend my daughter's college graduation. I thought I was being proactive by making a reservation two months in advance, and checking on the reservation often. I even called at 8:30 pm to ensure that arriving at 10:30 pm would not be a problem. I was told "Oh no, your room is guaranteed until 7 am tomorrow morning." Imagine how appaled I was when I arrived at 10:30pm only to be told that my room had been given away. I was told that I could go to the Holiday Inn next door, and that Comfort Suites would pay for my stay. This was a lie, because when I checked my banking activity the next morning, I found that not only did Comfort Suites charge me, but so did Holiday Inn. I immediately called Comfort Suites and was told that nothing could be done until Monday. I called the Holiday Inn and received the same answer. Apparently, managers do not work on the weekends. As if that experience was not distrubing enough, I never gave Holiday Inn my credit card, so that means Comfort Suites gave them my credit card number, which is not only unethical, but I believe illegal.
The most tragic piece of this awful experience is that a day that should have been joyful was turned into something by people who simply did not care that they had made not just one mistake, but three, and probably broke the law in the process. I would not recommend staying here if you are worried about identify theft, or if you believe that a credit card reservation really guarantees a room.
