Stayed one night, October 29, 2010 in Room 163, rate of $66.60. Overnight stay on a trip from NM back to south Texas. This is an old property. Has been updated. Not up to La Quinta standards but is acceptable. Outside entrance, old style TV's. Internet works good and is free. Did not use the breakfast bar. Arrived early evening and left early morning. Good valve for over night stay.

I prefer these older La Quintas with the spanish-style architecture, and the rooms that exit directly outdoors. This hotel seems to include some of the elements of La Quinta's latest remodel theme, and some of the elements of the old one. My room was about as expected, but the carpet was a little stained in places. At check-out I mentioned this to the gal at the front desk and she set about writing-up a work order. Comfortable beds, a quiet and (mostly) clean room, quick wi-fi, parking outside the door, and a great value... what's to complain about?

Where to start? Try the extremely narrow driveway entrance, then the poorly paved parking areas. Sidewalks were unswept from one day to the next so were littered with trash & cigarette butts. Our bathroom smelled of sewage at night, even though it looked clean, & the A/C didn't work properly. The room was shabby, there was neither a refrigerator or a microwave.

My first thought was what a clean and tidy room. But the bathrooms were less than desirable. Upon taking a shower that evening, I found a mass of long, black hairs stuck on the shower walls. Someone who is shedding must have used the shower last as the drain was clogged up.
I reached for a towel and the first one I grabbed was stained orange (?) so I grabbed the next one - I made sure I inspected it first! Not to mention the towels were about a 1/3 of the size of a normal bath towel (somebody skimping on the linens at the guests' expense?). So while the room was clean, the housekeeping needs to do their job and clean the entire bathroom and not just eyeball it.
My last gripe was at check out. We were charged $3.74 for a local call made to the pizza delivery place nearby. We explained that the hotel's very own guest brochure/policy on the night stand (next to the phone) said that all local calls were FREE. I even read the brochure before we called just to make sure and my husband read it as well. It said only long distance calls were extra. I explained this and the hotel employee said that we had to pay the phone charge because we used a third-party to book the room (i.e. expedia, hotwire, etc). WHAT?? How is a third party responsible for the hotel's company policy? This sounds like a scam La Quinta uses to rip their guests off every chance they get. Will never stay at another La Quinta again.
