We chose Homewood Suites/Longview because we wanted to see some of the sites in nearby Tyler and stay overnight. We like Homewood Suites because the bedroom and the living areas are completely separate. This is great when you're traveling with a small child!

This was generally a very good experience. The suite was large, and had a huge dressing area with connecting doors to both the living room and bedroom. The motel was clean, pleasant, and quiet. There is a motel next door (across a small street) with a bar on one end... and our room faced it. I was concerned about this, because it was Saturday night; but we were fortunate. We heard some music for a few minutes, but it didn't last long, and the rest of the evening was quiet.

We were given a room with a jacuzzi. We hadn't requested this, but I looked forward to it. Unfortunately, when I turned it on, the jets shot water up in the air. This was really our only complaint. (NOTE: The toilet flushed by pressing a button on top, and made a noise like a rocket. Our 5-year-old was scared of it at first, then began to find it amusing.)

Except for these plumbing-related oddities, we enjoyed our stay very much. The manager on duty was pleasant and helpful, and was able to give me precise directions to a restaurant we wanted to visit. I definitely recommend the Homewood Suites in Longview!

My family is relocating from Dallas to Longview. My husband is a doc and having started with his new group, is using the property as a home away from home as we finish up the pack and wait to close on our new home. Every bit of the service has been amazing. The rooms are quite large, the food is better than decent and the front desk staff very helpful.

When my husband left Dallas without his dress shirts one trip, he asked me to overnight some. I called the desk for the address, and the young woman who answered recognized my voice, asked after my family and the move, and then went out of her way to assure me that his shirts be delivered into the room if he were at work.

Today, our youngest daughter and I took a day trip to see Dad. As we parted we all recognized how taxing Dad's absence has been and it was a bit tearful. (Imagine a 16 year old crying about missing her father!) We are sending a small gift to Dad in care of the hotel and I'm without doubt that they will be as happy as he to receive it.

This hotel is no Four Seasons but the staff members go out of their way to provide much in comfort. I'm happy that when the doc's not at home, he's got some people trying give him a home like experience.

We were very disappointed by this hotel. The amenities are pretty good, but the service at the front desk is inexcusable. We checked into the hotel, apparently early, but we didn't realize that until the snotty girl at the front desk told us later - like she did us a favor. The room was fine, however we quickly realized the key card mechanism was broken and the door would not lock when you left the room. We called the front desk. They sent someone and hour later (meanwhile we had to wait in our room). The lock smith/maintenance man was very nice and appologetic, but it took over 2 hours to fix. Meanwhile, the front desk had the audacity to call and ask us to ask the maintenance man to come back up front because they had another job - in the middle of our job! Forget it - we said no. 3 1/2 hours later the problem was fixed, however we had spent the majority of our day waiting around, not wanting to leave our stuff unprotected. Had the front desk been more apologetic or accomodating, it would be a different story, but they were rude and snotty from start. Checking out, we told them how unsatisfied we were, that the front desk clerk had been inexcusably rude and they offered a $10 discount. Not good enough. Finally after 15 mintues of haggling, we got the manager on the phone - yes, that's right, there was NO manger on duty that day at the hotel. Never again will we stay here!

If you like to wait 20 minutes with other upset guests at a crowded reception counter for a room key, don't require ice, and enjoy fire drills, this is the place for you! That aside, the room was clean and spacious.
