“E X C E P T I O N A L !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

La Posada Hotel is all about details.

It's amazing in today's world of cost cutting to see an establishment who exceptional in every category. Rooms are well appointed, very comfortable and like each and every inch of the hotel exceptionally clean. Grounds are perfectly manicured and the service by each and every employee I made contact with was first rate.

The parking garage was great too, very secure and valet & non-valet parking is available.

Business services worked great as well.

I cannot say enough good about La Posada Hotel. They are truly exceptional!

Room Tip: I recommend deciding what type of view you would like, courtyard or a south facing view and mention...

“Beatutiful facade all around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011 via mobile

The hotel is is a vision of hacienda-style beauty as soon as you step foot inside the doors. The valet parking was included with our room and the employees are eager to help in a very serious way. Please dont be offended if the staff here is not overly jolly over you. This culture shows respect by being serious and getting stuff done. The bartender reminded me of an old country club-style man with a no nonsense approach to serving. He doesn't do small chit chat with anyone and concentrates on getting his job done right. Some of my collegues found this a bit offensive but again, it's the custom here and the staff truly does serve and respect you. The hotel is very old and it has been restored many times over the years so you will hear the crackling noises of an old house. Each night in my room I'd hear a very loud thumb or knock that you'd swear was right there in our room. My husband even said the place was haunted but that's pretty comon in old buildings like this...sounds echo! One thing I did not like was that since you're right on the rio grande you are over the homeland security offices wich have their k9 dogs barking at all hours of the night. Please choose a room that's away from this if possible. Another thing I didnt like was the beds; they were just too hard and uncomfortable for me and so were the pillows. They need to improve this. Also the shower didn't get hot enough to have a comfortable steamy shower. It was hard to adjust the temperature each time i'd shower. What I did like was that my room had awesome black out curtains which let you sleep without the bright Laredo sun bothering you. The food of the hotel is also very delicious and reasonably priced for a hotel. They mention that the Zaragoza grill was named one of the 50 top Mexican restaurants in Texas. I agree, but the menu serves dishes from all over so it's not just Mexican. The tack room is also delicious and I recommend this for dinner. It sort if reminds me of Louis 101 at Austin but with better food and prices. Overall la posada is a pleasant experince to look at but as far as room comfort it falls short. They should at least invest is high quality mattress toppers. If they ever correct this, theyd have a lot more success.

“Lovely, relaxing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

We were able to get a discounted rate by making personal contact with the hotel. Finding the hotel is a little challenging if you are not familiar with Laredo roadways, plus there were street repairs near the entrance. However, once you get inside the customer service is outstanding and the feel of the place is completely removed from what's happening outside.

Our first King suite obviously hadn't been used in a while - the sheets and couch were actually damp from the A/C but we were moved immediately. Extremely comfortable rooms. Two pools, grounds well maintained. Restaurant food and staff great. Fitness room has the essentials.

The hotel is literally on the Mexico border, so there is A LOT of foot traffic to and from the border crossings. There is a little park across the street where people hang out - we were told waiting for rides. We wandered around the area near the hotel, and to be frank I don't know I'd do it again without my 6'5" husband. But then, I'll admit to a little paranoia. That area of Laredo has a very "Mexico" feel, and I am not a good international traveler.

That being said, we plan to stay at La Posada again on our next trip.

Room Tip: the interior rooms don't have windows except for the french door leading to the interior courtya...

“Why Stay Anywhere Else?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

A friend & I stayed here two nights & enjoyed all the hotel had to offer. The renovated rooms were very nice, clean, beds were great & we had a hugh bathroom with double sinks. The restuarant had excellent food. We enjoyed the pool & courtyard areas where we relaxed at the end of very hot days. There was a breeze in the courtyard both evenings. We did some shopping around the hotel & found a few bargains. It was interesting to stay between both bridges across from Mexico & watching the traffic, people, & the border patrol.
I have stayed in other hotels in Laredo and as some of the other reviewers have remarked, you still have to walk or drive to find a restuarant outside the hotel, as well as shopping. It all depends on what you are looking for. We had an enjoyable stay & will stay there again. The staff was excellent & very accomodating. Very friendly place, quiet, slept well. Thanks.
