Hotel sits right off the interstate, near restaurants and shopping, about 10 minute drive to Ft Hood. Friendly and helpful desk staff. Free breakfast buffet with fresh hot and cold items. On certain days of the week they have an after 5pm social time and provide snacks and beverages downstairs. Rooms were clean spacious suites including a couch and recliner, kitchenettes with bowls, pots, pans, glasses & silverware. Iron, ironing board & complimentary spray starch. Wireless does not reach the rooms, but they give you a cable to use in the room. Small fitness area, no pool. Would stay here again. Very nice for a budget hotel.

Killeen is the ultimate strip city, with most of the town's eating and sleeping establishments lined in a row along the divided highway. One of the dozens of fairly new two story budget hotels is Hawthorne Suites. It is an inside-corridor hotel, unlike the adjacent Holiday Inn Express, and the rooms have small kitchens, couches and recliners. The breakfast was good and full and unlimited and the happy hour was quite the same with all you want wine, cheese and other snacks. I found a burn on the blanket and the linens were pretty thin, but I could not find anything else wrong. Friendly and helpful folks at the desk and the room seemed pretty clean. My office rate is $65 and I would consider the whole package as a very good bargain.

We have stayed at the Hawthorne Suites in Killeen twice. The first time by accident. (We knew nothing about the place) We stayed 5 days and was not dissappointed by a thing. The service was unforgettable. The desk was open 24 hours a day and helped us with anything from dinner reservations to extra towels. We were travelling thru Texas and they even phoned ahead and found us a room at another Hawthorne at a wonderful rate. The breakfast was wonderful, hot items every morning and wonderful fresh fruit. All of this for a reasonable price!!! The next time we came to Killeen we tried another motel because my daughter wanted to swim. We were so dissappointed by where we stayed. The pool was not worth it. It was so expensive and the service was horrrible. We canceled the rest of our stay there and called the Hawthorne. They found us a room and we will never stay anywhere else while in Killeen.
