“All it needs is a Pool to make this one of the best Hotels in Town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Recent upgrades to the rooms and facilities have really increased my enjoyment staying at this hotel. The staff is friendly and very helpful, they made me feel welcome from the start throughout my stay here for three weeks. The breakfast buffet is good, and differs day to day so you don't get tired of the same thing. But they also include some standard things each day for those who do like that. The evening Manager's "Reception" in the lobby had soft drinks and wines as well as snacks. Each night there is a different kind of finger food which included BBQ little sausages, nachos, meatballs, taquitos, cheeseburgers and chips, etc.
When the desk clerk saw that they had an upgraded room available for me, they let me move into it since I'll be working here for three weeks. Full size refridgerator, cook top, utensils, and plenty of storage and cabinet space and a new microwave just added to the comfort. I look forward to staying here in the future.

“Better Options in Killeen”

Got this hotel through hotwire whom listed it as a 3 star. This hotel is definetely not a 3 star. In a nutshell this hotel is dated and in need of renovation. The room was clean but everything about it is outdated. There are far better options in Killeen.

“You get what you pay for”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2010

I stayed at the Hawthorne Suites in Killeen, TX, in September, 2009, while working at Fort Hood.

My very first impression was the smell of mildew throughout the building. This hotel is a smoking/non-smoking combination hotel, so the non-smoking rooms are adjacent to the smoking rooms. Also, the non-smoking rooms were probably all smoking rooms because the smell still lingers - along with the mildew smell.

My second impression was the cutesy cricket-themed note on the table telling me it was cricket swarming season and the hotel does its best to control them but...

My third impression was the broken, filthy recliner in my "living" area, and the sofa also appeared dirty. I took a spare blanket from the chest of drawers to spread on the sofa and discovered a large, dark stain in the center of the blanket.

I literally took Clorox wipes to the entire room before I felt I could touch anything. The bathoom sink was old, cracked, and stained, and the decor was pretty much as it had been when the place opened in the 60's or 70's. The only good thing was the size of the room; it was large. The kitchenette area was small, lacked storage space, and there were no utensils - they were available from the front desk.

I did not select this hotel but was placed there by my company at the government rate. I requested to be moved to another the following day and was very happy to leave. I would advise anyone traveling to Killeen to avoid the Hawthorne Suites. You would do better at the Marriott Residence Inn or the Fairfield Inn.

STayed at this Hawthorn Suites in September. The room had several crickets. Appeared this was a time of swarming. Even the hotel lady in the breakfast room mentioned they can never get rid of crickets. One computer and it's never cleaned. The workout room is never washed down.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2008

Govt rate friendly and you eary Hyatt rewards. Easy check-in. Very close to all the amenities. Walmart, Hooters, tons of eating establishments. Breakfast is ok. It's heartier than the average continental. Hot items include waffles, omelets(egg product with sliced cheese in the middle), sausages, gravy, and biscuits. If the coffee is empty, go in the prep room and grab the new urn full of coffee. If you wait for it, you'll be waiting a while. Just do it yourself! Front desk is very nice and fast. Romms are comfy. Decent recliner, small tv, couch, and king bed in my room. Full size fridge and microwave.
