“Bed big alert!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

Stayed here for business reasons and close to my Corporate home base. First nite saw bugs and called front desk and they told me that 'they had sprayed" but they were coming through the window AC. I was on the first floor. They ensured that they weren't bed bugs though!
Not only that, the sheets were stained.. YUCK!!!I

I moved the next day to Hilton Garden Inn. But it wasn't quick enough to have not brought home bedbugs with me... 3 weeks later and I've found two in my house. I'm extremely upset and disgusted...

Mind you, I'm a Diamond member and stay at the HIlton hotel chain more than I am home. I've logged over 500,000 pts in the last 2 yrs...

Their response? they comped the room! nothing more... Oh wait, they offered me a 15 buck gift card to starbucks.. I don't drink coffee!

Do not stay! Now i'm looking into getting rid of them in my own house. I've seen two in the last 3 weeks. Totally disgusted!!

Long time HIlton Diamond member...

“Typical Hampton - Good Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

I stayed at this location for one night while traveling for business.

The location was easily found by my GPS and the hotel an area set back off the freeway, so I did not experience freeway or other surrounding noise inside the hotel. There is plenty of parking near the hotel. Check in was quick and easy. There is a nicely decorated, inviting lobby with a small front desk and nicely appointed common area. (Breakfast area) They have coffee and tea available 24 hours a day, had cookies available in the evening.

The hotel has a small with several pieces of cardio equipment, (all including TV's), a weight system, and other equipment. There is outdoor pool and sunning area. They do not really have a business center but have one computer and printer in the lobby. The hotel has free internet access for guests and I found it to be rather slow, even for hotel service but got the job done.

The rooms are typically decorated, and comfortable. The beds acceptable. They have old style CRT TV's with sufficient channels. The climate control works well but unfortunately you can not leave the blower motor on for white noise while the climate control is still functioning. Bathrooms are well equipped with plenty of storage and counter space. There is a tub / shower comb. The room had no discernable noice from nearby rooms. Room included a work desk (though you could not see the TV from the desk), microwave, fridge, and couch. Oddly, the plugs on the desk turn off when you turn off the light. (be careful if you want to charge your phone or laptop overnight!) Everything was very clean.

The area has many types of dining options nearby, within a couple of miles away but nothing in easy walking distance.

The breakfast area had plenty of seating in the morning. Typical Hampton breakfast, the day I stayed it was omelets, Sausage links, french toast sticks, pastries, cereal, juices, coffee, etc. They had the "on the run bags: with an apple, muffin, cereal bar, water, and mints.

The staff was cordial. I would stay here again.

“Clean and Comfotable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

I was in town on business and wanted to be close to DFW Airport. This hotel was easy to access. There was no noise from the airport. The room was clean and comfortable. The service was friendly. Would consider this again for future travel as it has easy access to major roadways.

“Not awful, but not great, either”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2009

My wife and I stayed here in July 2009; she had a conference at the hotel, and I decided to tag along so we could have a night away. The hotel had that old, used smell the moment you walked in. I couldn't tell how old for sure this property is, but it felt a little worn around the edges.

When I arrived for check-in, the front-desk employee had given our room to another property guest with a similar last name (as in we both had unusual names that started with the same letter - it wasn't like one of us was John A. Smith and the other was Jack A. Smith or anything that close). It took him quite a while (it felt like 10 minutes, but I'd bet it was closer to 5) to fix the charges and get us a new room. He was nice about it, but it didn't instill confidence in the hotel's staff.

Even though we had a non-smoking room, you could smell cigarette smoke everywhere from the front door (the ash tray is literally next to the door) to the halls and rooms. The room was nice, but the TV was old (I've grown accustomed to flat-screen TVs even in moderately priced hotels), one of the lamps didn't have a lightbulb in it and the carpet was worn and a tad dingy. The air conditioner worked great (especially considering it was 105+ outside), but when it kicked on it was kind of loud.

I've stayed in much nicer Hamptons elsewhere; this one wasn't the worst hotel I'd ever stay in, but I'd shop around for another hotel in the Las Colinas area if possible, realizing that if you need to stay here, it's far from awful, but also not as good as newer Hampton properties.

One word for smokers and non-smokers about Irving, in general. Most of the big North Texas cities (Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington and Plano) have outright smoking bans in restaurants and most bars. Irving does not (in fact every restaurant we visited greets you with a sign that reads, "This is not a smoke-free establishment"). As non-smokers, we found that annoying; if you're a smoker, Irving may well be your last outpost to have a cigarette with dinner in North Texas.

“Very Very Clean”

This was a great hotel stay. Nice breakfast, AWESOME cookies, very clean. Outdoor pool and no wireless are really the only downfalls. Little breakfast bags if you get up and have to leave before the free breakfast starts. Great stay, would reccommend it.

  • Liked — The cookies and the cleanliness :-)
  • Disliked — # of channel choices on in room television.
