“Decent stay! But, this hotel has major staff communication and management issues.”
We just returned from our 3 day mini-vacation at The Four Seasons - Las Colinas resort in Dallas, Texas between 5/17-5/19. First, the good.
Room was clean and equipped with everything one would expect to have at a resort of this caliber (swanky bath robes, nice shower/tub, wood crafted anwar, etc...) We had an incredible view of the 18th green from our furnished balcony. Be sure to request a corner room w/ full balcony if you decide to book this resort. We saw other guests who dropped $300+ for a room sitting on the concrete floor of their balcony. We also witnessed several guests schlepping their inside furniture out to the balcony to enjoy the beautiful views of the golf course and homes surrounding this pristine and finely manicured resort. The staff, for the most part, were polite and appeared to want to be helpful. However, this is what brings me to the bad at this resort. 4 words- poor service and management.
One hand has no clue what the other is doing at this property. It starts when you pull up to the valet/ bell stand. The reservation manager informed us that complimentary self-park was included with our room. However, a 4 seasons valet person told me that I had to pay for self- park. Then, another valet person stated,"No, sir. Your self park is included with your stay." Which is it?
Then, you go to the check-in desk. Our check-in person had no idea that we had pre-paid for our 2 night stay. She even tried to charge my credit card after I told her the reservation manager had processed our payment the night before. She had no idea about any of this. Also, the reservation manager never sent us a confirmation email as promised.
I could go on forever citing several examples of the lack of communication between staff and management at this resort. However, I think you get the point.
Finally, though they attempt to "fix" their mistakes by comping meals and sending elegant dessert dishes to your room, their generosity verges on patronage. For example, I asked for 3-4 cold beers that I requested be sent to the golf course so I could enjoy them while my wife and I played golf. They ended up sending 12 beers which would had been fine. However, we got them 2 hours later on the 13th hole! If you order a bacon/cheeseburger and they forget to put the bacon on your sandwich- they will send out 5 lbs of bacon with an elegant "I'm sorry" card 30 minutes after you have finished your meal! I suggested they simply address the mistake, remediate it, follow up with the client and let them know what they should expect for the remainder of their stay.
In summary, this resort often offers specials ($225/night golf pakages, etc...). I would suggest booking this resort only while they offer these nice specials unless your company is flipping the tab. In that case, who cares, right? You will be ok with any type of service you get, because it free! This resort, like many others, seems to have fallen victim to corporate clients who would never pay $1200 for a 2 night stay if the cash was coming out of their own personal checking account. We've seen it happen to 1st class air travel, now it has even ruined my once beloved FOUR SEASONS! We miss you FOUR SEASONS! Please come back...
Room Tip: Book a corner room w/ full balcony unlesss you enjoy sitting on concrete floors. Do not make special...
