My first stay at the DFW Sheraton was in March 2011, and this is my second stay the first week of December 2011. I stayed at this hotel to attend a professional seminar. From the DFW airport, there’s a complimentary shuttle that will take you to the hotel. Make sure you have the hotel phone number handy or in your cell phone so you can call for the shuttle and let them know where you’re located. Go downstairs to the lower level where all the shuttles are. The wait was about 15 minutes. Check-in was easy; there was no line.
Because I was there for an event, I paid a special rate of $99 per night. The room I stayed in was a traditional 300 square foot room with two double beds, a night stand with three drawers, a flat screen TV on top of a dresser with three drawers, a desk, two arm chairs and a small round table with an ice chest and two complimentary bottled waters. On top of the desk is a desk light, pad of paper and pen, an area to put your laptop, and a coffee/tea maker. There’s Starbucks coffee (Africa Kitamu and Decaf Fair Trade Blend) and a couple of Tazo teas (Earl Gray and Wild Sweet Orange.) They offer high speed internet for $9.95 per day. Although downstairs in the lobby, there are four computers with wi-fi that are free for you to use. There’s also a printer.
In the bathroom, there’s a hairdryer, tissue box, and wrapped plastic cups. Toiletries include: Shine brand shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, two soaps – Mandarin & Mint. There’s also a small packet with 2 cotton balls, 2 cotton swabs, and a small nail file.
In the closet, there’s an iron, ironing board, about ten wooden hangers, and a luggage rack; there’s no safe.
The beds are really comfortable, with four pillows and a super soft comforter.
The hotel offers a “green” choice – you receive a $5 voucher or 500 SPG Starpoints awarded at checkout for each night you decline housekeeping services (except day of departure.) To participate, you must hang the green choice card on your door before 2:00am. You can use the $5 voucher any place at the hotel, such as the restaurant, coffee shop, or convenient store.
On Saturday night, I ate at the hotel restaurant ONE. The dinner buffet was $14.95, which included salad, fresh fruit, pasta salad, rice pilaf, mashed potatoes (which was amazing), fried chicken, steak, dinner rolls, and fruit cobbler for dessert. You can get a $25 gift certificate at Restaurant.com
If you have a roommate, you can split the cost of the room on two separate credit cards, and you can also use both of your SPG Starpoint membership cards, so both of you will get credit.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the DFW Sheraton, and would stay here again.
