“Big Disappointment”

I told the receptionist at Roddy Tree Ranch that we would be driving in from Dallas and would be arriving late. When we got there, a key was in the box along with a map that was so old and worn out that it was illegble. The cabins are stread out over the ranch and there are no road markings. I was reduced to stopping at a cabin with the lights on and knocking on the door at 11:00 at night.... not a very comfortable thing to do.

After getting instructions, I located my cabin and guess what.... it wasn't a cabin at all but a mobile home with a built on front porch. 400 sq ft max!

The employees were nice but painfully unable to help. I never met the owners in the three days that I was there.

There are many very nice retreats in the hill country. I wouldn't include Roddy Tree Ranch among them!

“In a state of severe disrepair”

The people who run the place are nice, but it needs a lot of repairs and updates. The pools were unclean and not usable. Everything in the game room was broken. Mice in our house. Major road noise if you are in a place by Rte 39. They say no pets, but there are people living in there who have dogs, plus the owner lets friends stay with dogs. Several nights we could not sleep for all the dog howling. Multiple things advertised on the web site do not exist.

On the plus side, the Saturday night live music was terrific.

I'm sorry these folks had so much to complain about. Some of their concerns are valid. We do have some issues with pools from time to time, but address them as fast as possible however, at no time were both pool areas not usable. Mice in the country, when it starts getting cooler, our county mice look for warmer places to live and food. As soon as they appear we take proper steps to eradicate the problem. We inspect our facilities often and correct problem as they arise or as hey are reported to us. Most people have a wonderful time here and come back year after year. Some focus on the negatives.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

We have been having family reunions for over 20 years and each year we have the chore of finding a place big enough for us. Last year was our first reunion at Roddy Tree. We had 46 in attendance(small reunion that year) from 2 yrs to 75yr. We found the cabins clean, well equipped, cool and very confortable. There were activities of everyone and the kids could run free without any fears. We are having our reunion there again this year and we are all excited to get there. We plan on doing this again.

“Family Reunion doesn't get any better than this.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

Reunion, with family from KY, FL, OK, AZ, TX. From mid 80's to 3 mos, we had a wonderful time. Something for everyone or do nothing............I can't say enough about this perfect Hill County get away. We cooked, ate out, sat on our front porch with a glass of wine, watched the deer, went fishing, swam the Ingham Dam, went conoeing, played in the Graduloupe, did Fredricksburg, watched the Wed. nite movie, played basketball at the pavilion, then danced to the jukebox. The best was showing the rest of the family our lovely part of America. What wonderful memories. Only negative thing was the "term"
"Bed and Breakfast" used, or did I miss something.

“Nice large cabin, very relaxing and good location of have some fun on the river, catch some fish and do some canoeing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2010

We stayed in the Pecan Springs Farm 100+ year old log cabin. We had plenty of room for our four adults and 5 kids in the party. The kitchen was great and bedrooms were nice and comfy. We especially enjoyed canoeing on the Guadalupe River and catching some bass as we paddled about as well as in the stocked pond. The kids had fun in the play grounds and feeding the horses and played air hockey in the game room when the weather turned cold on us. The stay was quiet and peaceful and we would like to return during the peak season some day to check out the additional entertainment provided then.
