I requested a non-smoking room when making the reservation and was told that the entire hotel was non-smoking but some people still smoked in them. The lady was nice enough and said I could ask to switch rooms if the one I was given had a smoke smell to it. Upon arriving and opening the door to the room, I thought I was walking into an ashtray overflowing with cigarettes - the smell was overwhelming. I started to leave and ask for a different room when I noticed that the hotel "provided ashtrays" in the room....switching wasn't going to help.
There was a gap on the door large enough that I could see completely through - and people could see in and tell if the deadbolt was fastened or not. Luckily, there was a full-sized refrigerator blocking anyone from looking further into the room. Dirt was all over the inside of the door - doubtful it had ever been cleaned. The carpets were stained throughout. The bottom of the shower curtain had black buildup up of I don't even want to know what. The walls had mystery splatters on them and the mattresses were so old they were fraying and no support left in them - extremely soft. The sheets appeared to be clean but were also heavily wrinkled - hopefully not slept in by a prior guest. I could not allow my mind to go there. The hotel also was proud to announce they offered free wifi but the connection was "very low" and made using the internet irritating.
Had I not been traveling with two large dogs and attending an event only a mile away, I would have left immediately and found another place to stay. Unfortunately, finding a hotel that is pet friendly to large dogs is not easy to do. I used Febreeze on EVERYTHING and never allowed my bare feet to touch the floors.
While walking the dogs with my doggie pick-up bags, I took them to the thin area of grass within the hotel fence and found the entire green area to be "covered" in dog piles...barely any space between them - disgusting!! I wasn't about to let my dogs walk on that!! I walked them on the grassy area on the other side of the hotel fence and it, too, was covered in dog piles. I could not believe the hotel staff was not keeping the grounds clean.
The hotel did offer free continental breakfast but, with such little concern about cleanliness, there was no way I was going to attempt consuming anything from this location.
Some positive comments...it was cheap, there was a full-sized refrigerator, a small microwave and they allowed large dogs.
