“Great Staff - that's about it!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Houston for a conference. I can't say enough great things about the front desk staff, consierge and valet parking - they were all great and super helpful as I was an out of towner. The hotel itself, I wasn't hyped up on. The rooms were clean, but the noise from the lobby area until all hours of the morning was ridiculous. The tv in my room had to be manually turned on by staff using a "special" switch and the air conditioning in my room didn't work. Also, I have a hard time paying this price for a room and not receiving any perks - everything is an additional fee. It was $10 a day for wireless internet! I won't be making a trip back anytime soon...

Thank you for the comments about our staff and service. Please accept our apology for the items that were not working in your room upon arrival. I was happy to hear we were able to rectify both the AC and TV issue while you were our guest. We appreciate your feeback.

“pick another hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I just returned from a 5 day 4 night stay in Houston- I choose to stay in the Hyatt as the Hilton was sold out, the hotel was clean and impressive as a first impression- glass elevators overlooking the city or the 26 stories of hotel rooms and allow breat taking views of the city or the hotel depending on which elevator you get on. Well this unfortunately also leads to every noise from the lobby and lobby bar to echo up the main tower. The noise in the lobby and bar traveled and very annoying until after midnight each night. I was also awankened at 8:30 on the day of check out by housekeeping- I realize its their job to clean the rooms ASAP for the next guest to check in but 8:30 am??? really??? seemed a bit early to me as check out isn't until 12!!! Hotle is clean, Shula's steakhouse, sandwich shop and a bar in the lobby which is nice but I will not stay in this hotel again for the prices I paid/ night.

Room Tip: pick a different hotel

Thank you for your comments. Regarding the lobby, we are currently working on making some acoustical adjustments in the building to prevent the noise from rising up to the guest floors. In the meantime, we hope to see you again soon.

“Ok location but great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Surpised by this hotel. There for a conference. The rooms were great, elevators fast, Sheila's steak house, great lobby bar etc.
Big reason to stay? Staff was incredible. Front desk staff wonderful, bar tender had a very dry , but very very funny sense of humor.
Had amazing experience with bar server. It was my birthday and we had drinks all night. I looked up and Einsteins bagels in Libby was closed and so was kitchen. The young woman, rhymes with delema, went out of her way to get me boxes of cereal, small milk, spoons and napkins! Service like that is rare and needs to be rewarded.
Great stay

“Nice hotel - good staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I'm staying at the Hyatt Regency Houston on Louisiana Street for a conference. It's really nice. I requested a feather-free hotel room and was surprised to also find an air purifier in the room. I have enjoyed my stay here. The bed is incredibly comfortable and I slept really well. The staff is attentive and the food for the conference was pretty good too. I am a vegetarian and there was plenty for me to eat. If you have a car, you'll find plenty of shopping nearby (within a few miles). If you take the basic roads and don't hop on the interstates/freeways, it's pretty easy to get around. Also, the coffee shop has really good hours - open late! I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Request allergy free - Hyatt Regency delivers!

“Wish I'd stayed at the Hilton”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Just checked out of the Houston Hyatt Regency Hotel. We stayed three nights, flying in from New Hampshire to see Constantine Maroulis starring in the Toxic Avenger at the Alley Theatre. The show was fabulous. Our hotel room was clean where it really mattered to me which is the bed and the bathroom. however there was a significant build up of dust on the furniture and the coffeemaker. We were awakened this morning at 9:00 by the maid asking when we'd be leaving. I found that to be quite rude. The structure of the hotel is pleasing to the eye, but not condusiveto sound absorption. The noise in the lobby traveled and was audible until way after midnight. Wifi is not free and bottled water is available in the rooms at 2:50 for for 12 ounces. Would think that a reputable hotel chain would include wifi in the price of the room (not cheap) and make bottled water available at a reasonable price to it's patrons. Also, there is absolutelynothing to do in Houston. I will not be returning.

Room Tip: Choose a room at a different hotel if noise is an issue for you.
