Stayed here for a weekend trip to Houston and its proximity to the Galleria and highway was ideal. The drive to NASA wasn't too far and even getting to down town was fast. The breakfast was good, better than in most hotels in this class and they had somebody on staff make omelets to order. We stayed in a very spacious and affordable King suite with separate bedroom which allowed us to put the kids to bed and still have time to relax.
The only downside that we could mention was a heavily outdated kitchen - that we didn't use.

I spent three nights at this hotel back in December for a quick business trip to Houston. I selected this hotel mainly because of the corporate rate I was given, which saw me getting a one-bed room suite, breakfast, free internet access and a discounted car parking rate. Apparently, this hotel turned out to be in a great location: next door to the Galleria Mall and right on the Westheimer Road.
I liked the breakfast as it had different food varieties and the service was just great. Front desk staff were just helpful and that is it. There is a business center with somehow old computers but they do the job!
About the room: well, I am not sure if the furniture was rusty or it was just the style! Anyhow, I thought it was average; Beds were comfortable though! Bathroom was soo spacious you could throw a party in there! I also had a difficult time with the AC as I just couldn’t manage to get it to heat the room as it was very very cold.
One thing I think the hotel needs to revisit is their In-Room Dining Menu and the options there. I arrived late to Houston and checked in to my room really late, may be around 11:30 pm. I was so hungry and I just couldn’t order anything. I can’t remember but either they didn’t serve anything after 11 or the options they had at that time weren’t much at all. So, I ended up going out and drove to the nearest Whataburger and grabbed something to go. By the time I was back, the parking was FULL! And I had to wait for about 40 minutes until a spot got cleared out. Anyways, it wasn’t their fault…but it would be nice if they revisit the menu.
I would come back to this hotel considering the rate I am always given and the location of course.

I've stayed at this Double Tree Suites twice in the last year. The first time we had a more positive experience than the second time. The staff is professional and nice, and the location is definitely convenient. The suites are spacious, but definitely in need of an update, but on our second visit ours smelled of mildew, which was rather unpleasant (though opening the door to our balcony helped). I'd say if you're a corporate traveler you could probably do better, if you shopped around. Gym is on the smaller side, but really has everything you need, and I appreciated that the treadmills look out over the pool. Never got int he pool, but it looked nice! If your company has a discount/corporate rate at Doubletree, it might be worthwhile.

I recently stayed at the double tree with my family (kids) fo a little mini break in the city. The location was great as my teenager wanted some quality time at the Galleria for shopping. The front desk was so friendly and helpful. Housekeeping also very quick to help. However, the rooms are so out of date. The property needs a big renovation. It was clean enough, but the air conditioning unit was old and made noise. Windows were very dirty. Everything just very old. I bought this room with a Living Social coupon that stated that the property was newly renovated. They either have another section that has been updated, or else LS considers 1993 as recent.
