“Classic Hilton in desperate need of renovation!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This hotel is in a GREAT location. The lobby is nice and modern, but furniture shows bad signs of wear. The check in was efficient and friendly. Was upgraded to an Exec Floor rooom. Opened door to room and couldn't believe how old the room was... Stained carpet, 80s desk chair and furniture, tile in shower was moldy and original to building (70s). Mattress was VERY soft and felt old. I can honestly say nothing positive about the room other than it was of reasonable size... I tried to make coffee three times, each time
Getting less than an ounce of coffee before cutting off. The bar was being remodeled, so a makeshift bar was set up in a meeting room. It felt like a bad 80s wedding... For $200 per night u can do MUCH better. Not sure how they got a 4 diamond rating. Maybe 2 at best.

“You get what you pay for.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The room rates at this hotel are very reasonable. The cost of two nights in a one bedroom suite was less than I usually pay for one night in a standard room. And as a result, the furnishings left a lot to be desired. The description of the rooms by the hotel stated each room was "beautifully decorated." The art work on the walls was find but the furnishings were sadly out of date and well worn. Even the lobby furniture was thread bare. The room had a balcony, but it was only 2 feet wide. The bedroom area had no window. There was no door to close between the living room area and the bedroom area. The wet bar area was large and included a refrigertor and a microwave oven. The hotel is within walking distance of the Gallaria. I might stay at this hotel again because it is a bargain.

“A good Average Business Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Spent several days here on business. It is an average Hilton hotel. Looks like it was once a higher end hotel that has since become a bit "worn at the heels". Rooms were reasonably confortable. Check-in was pleasant, but staff member was poorly trained and somewhat confused (not that anything out of the usual was requested). However, I would note that the service in the restaurant was excellent - helpful and knowledgeable. It is also of note that I would rate this Hilton as a notch above the InterContenental Hotel (1 block away) and a slightly better place to stay. All considered, I'd rate this hotel as only a moderate (6 or 10) value for the customer's dollar.

Room Tip: If you must stay in the Galeria area - this hotel is a slightly better choice than the InterContenta...

“Medicore experience...perhaps, not worth the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This hotel is...ok. I would be upset if I'd paid full price for my 2-nite stay, but I got a pretty good deal on Priceline. The room is perfectly fine. I enjoyed the balcony & view. The shower could definitely use an upgrade: stains in between the tiles, old caulking, and a slight draining problem. The walls are super thin...I had to wear ear plugs to sleep because I could hear my neighbor snoring! My biggest complaint is the parking. The self-parking garage can get very costly if you come in & out. Not to mention just paying $14 for overnight. Also, because of the higher caliber of hotel, I expected the wi-fi to be free. It wasn't - $11/day. Room service was fast & friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect because it's centrally located, in the middle of everything fun to do in Houston. Overall, my stay was fine...but for the price, I think "fine" is a little disappointing.

“what a wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I got the room at a crazy reduced rate through priceline, my first time using the service. The room was incredible - it had a bar area, sitting area with tv & fold out couch, a separate bedroom with another tv and a very spacious bathroom. Everything was well designed and just immaculate. I could not have been more pleased.

My room (301) faced the front of the hotel and was above the valet. It was extremely quiet and the bedroom portion did not have a window so it was so perfectly dark and I slept like a log.

Only partial negative was that I had breakfast downstairs and the server took 10 minutes getting me my check. It wasn't particularly busy and I wasn't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal.
