We stayed at the Hampton Inn for not more than a two night stop-over, but I guess that’s what the hotel is primarily intended for. All in all, we were absolutely pleased with it, offering really good value for money. The rooms were clean and well-equipped. OK, the location may neither be very charming (at a highway, flanked by patrol stations) nor close to the city center. But it is very close the Bush Intercontinental Airport - and that’s nothing but an advantage if you have an early morning flight out and don’t need to care much about city traffic and enough buffer time for transfer. They offer complementary shuttle services from and to the airport. That’s nice already but what’s really a convenient extra service is that they also bring you to restaurants in the evening (within a certain distance from the hotel) and pick you up at an agreed time again.
Otherwise, to go down-town, besides taxi, it’s an option to take a bus which is leaving from the airport. Within the hotel, we didn’t use the gym or the pool (which both seemed rather small, yet, that wasn’t why we were there).
There is only one issue we really have to criticize – though this might not be a specific practice of the facility but typical for some US hotels? Breakfast, which was absolutely OK content-wise, was entirely served on plastic (plates, mugs, cups, bowls, cutlery, milk packs etc.). If you only have a minor ecological sense, you don’t like to imagine the huge amount of (unnecessary!) waste that is produced each and every day. This is really outdated and we recommend considering a dishwasher...
However, all in all, we were satisfied and would go there again.
