I travel a lot, and this is the best place I have ever stayed at! Lisa is great, and very friendly. The rooms are very comfortable. Free parking :). Breakfast is cooked by a chef, using fresh ingredients. Great location.

Most people think Victorian lace and knick-knacks when they think bed and breakfast. The Modern turns this preconception on its ear. I've stayed here several times over the past 7 years and haven't been disappointed. Very cool and sleek interior (I think this was the first place I saw a plasma TV in a room for rent) and yet comfortable and cozy. I have only stayed in the smallest room, which has a bathroom a few steps away. We also had access to a huge kitchen equipped with all the mod cons. The location is absolutely perfect if you want to be inside the loop and within walking distance of lots of cool restaurants and bars. Lisa, the owner, is vivacious and welcoming to all who show up at her place. If you're there on a Monday night it's not unusual to get invited along with her to her weekly "pub crawl" with friends. I've stayed there with a friend and also with my husband and in both cases had great experiences.

We have stayed at the Modern B&B many times. Each time has been wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable and the location is over the top. We look forward to going back.

The house is beautiful and the food fantastic (with wine, tea, coffee, and snacks available throughout the day). The chef will cook you breakfast to order, plus she makes delicious quiches, smoothies, and baked goods. The location for getting to the museum district is perfect and easy, plus there are fantastic restaurants close by. I recommend this to people who like modern design, good food, and don't want a hotel-like atmosphere. It was a bit noisy (sounds/voices from the front door, living room, and kitchen), but if you have ear plugs for sleeping, it's fine. Besides the noise, my only complaint was that the rest of the house was rented by a group in town for a family wedding. So everyone else staying there knew each other well and it felt a little strange like I was in someone else's living room when they were around.
