“Great location across from NASA. Good amenities near by in ClearLake, TX”

This microtel sits across from the space center location. You could technically just walk but judging by the attitude of Texans for driving everywhere, you won't see folks walking. The rooms are very nicely staged along with a microwave and a small fridge in our suite room.

I've read the reviews here and people expect a setting of a Hilton in a Micrtotel. Let's be real folks, you aren't paying $200 a night here, if you have that kind of money, feel free to drive a mile ahead and stay at the Hilton. The microtel has everything we required. They served a complimentary breakfast till 9.30 every morning. Provided us with toiletries anytime we needed it. Front staff were very courteous and friendly. They even provided us with iron board and an iron.

There is a Luby's cafeteria within the same block where Microtel and they share the same parking lot. Also, CVS is right across to the right and 24hrs if you forgot to bring anything during your trip. There is also a Walgreens but it's before you get on the newly built Nasa parkway.

For java lovers, there is a starbucks in a nearby plaza right before Extended America suites which is also nearby. Subway and couple of oriental restaurants serving buffets and gourmet Chinese food are all nearby.

In all we had a great vacation and experience during our Houston trip. The nearest mall (Baybrook Mall) is only a 10 min drive when you cross the I-45 bridge. Very conveniently located near the Webster/Clearlake area. League City is only 15 min drive.

“Good Budget Motel”

I don't know where the other reviewers stayed but our experience was great. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a mircowave and refrigerator. There were NO bugs of any kind and the whole place was recently remodeled. Breakfast was available and did include eggs and waffles. The staff was friendly and even the shampoo and soaps were high quality. We would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

“Never be back, never recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

I didn't smell anything in the lobby, but from the hallways on, I did. It just smelled old & musty, not pleasant. I stayed on the 3rd floor and the ice machine was broke. Went to the 2nd floor and walked from one end to the other, but no ice machine. Had to go to lobby, but at least that one was working. The front desk girl was very friendly and personable. The AC is the old kind, a box under the window. When we walked in, it was like a sauna! I don't understand, why, if we had reservations, the AC couldn't have been turned on at 2pm, since check-in time was 3pm. It took forever for the room to cool and their idea of a "high" setting is a joke. The room was just like the picture, nice. However, in the bathroom, the shower curtain had lots of mold and a man's shorts had been left hanging behind the door. The floor had plenty of cracks and needed grout. On top of all that, my friends who stayed across the hall said that their bathroom vent was just hanging! I have stayed at much cheaper hotels that had less issues. To top it off, we were told that breakfast with waffles, eggs, biscuits, etc would be out by 5:30am. By 5:40am there's was no one around and no breakfast. I had to ring the bell and yell out "helloooo" before someone finally came out for me to be able to check out. When I mentioned that we had been looking forward to their breakfast, he just looked at me. No apology at all. The evening shift person cared a whole lot more than he did! Maybe the other Microtel's are ok, but I would never go back to this one!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

I really apologize for your less than satisfactory experience you had at our hotel. We have noted all the issues and I believe we have resolved the unfortunate maintenance issues. I have also spoken with our night auditor who did not do his job by not having the breakfast out by 5:30. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will give us another chance to show our improvements in the future. - Nizar

“Won't come back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

I was not very happy with this hotel choice. The good things: it was cheap, it was close to NASA, where we were going. Those were nice. The bad things: the whole place smelled strongly of industrial air freshener. It was like fabreeze on steroids. I didn't like that at all. And, the room looks like it was painted by a 5 year old. And, it was painted a long time ago. Even that paint, with huge drips, smears, drips and spatters everywhere, was old. The finish out is terrible. Also, the room was tiny! It was supposed to have a refrigerator, but it didn't. However, the room appeared to be fairly clean, however. The main point is that you get what you pay for. I will pay more next time to not stay here!

We are very sorry for the experience you had at our hotel. I want to assure you that what you experienced at our hotel is not typical. Once, the front desk was notified of the smell in the hallway, the guest was asked to leave the hotel the same night. Due to our proximity to the Space Center, we host many school and children groups throughout the year and therefore have a no-tolerance policy when it comes to the suspected use of any illegal substance at our hotel. Also, we had your room as well as the hotel in general inspected and we did not find any bed bugs in that room or anywhere else in the hotel. It is possible there may have been some ants, but there were no signs of any bed bugs. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience but want to assure you that we take guest satisfaction very serious at our hotel.
