Paid $95 US for 2 double bed room. Sheraton Four Points, Ramada was $120 and are very close by. I've stayed at 3 other LaQuinta's in different states and they were all really nice, as nice as any other 3 star hotel, probably because they were new. So when I saw the website on this property saying "newly renovated" I thought it would be a good choice. It was not nearly as nice as my previous LaQuinta experiences but I wasn't expecting to be pleasantly surprised, so my expectations were already low.
Good Points : Price. Bed sheet and bed look clean. Free wifi, but slow connection. Staff were friendly. Washroom had good water pressure and hot water setting is hot enough to burn you. Easy to find and drive in/out of to where you are going. Easy access to highway.
Bad Points : Room smelled like a mixture of smoke and bad air freshner. Even though I asked for non-smoking room, and I didn't see any ash trays, the smell was bad. Hotel is right along highway and windows are very thin. You can hear all the traffic zooming by with police sirens going on very frequently. Even thought it is 4 to 5 miles away from the Galleria mall area, this hotel is not in the nicest parts of town. Though it is safe because it is along the highway and the Hilton is across the street, if you drive 4-5 blocks, you will see parts that you don't want to get out of your car. Website advertises 24 hour security guard. It makes you wonder why they need it ? Security guard booth is at parking lot but was never occupied, maybe he was on vacation or went missing :) Washroom floor was the weirdest I've ever seen at any hotel. It is wood and the wood absorbs all the nasty smells. Make sure you wear slippers or shoes in the washroom.
