After reviewing several hotels I decided to book my stay with the Staybridge Suites and give them a try. I originally booked a room with 2 queen beds. For a Christmas present I flew my mom, aunt and myself down to Houston for their yearly quilt show (this was a really big deal for my mom and aunt). I also want to mention that I had booked a higher end hotel as an alternative in case I didn't like the hotel or they ended up giving us full beds instead of queen beds. Upon check in I was pleasantly greeted by a gentleman and explained what I had booked and if he was unable to accomodate us to please let us know and I would proceed with plan b at the other hotel. He told me to go ahead and look around (which I did) and see if I would be happy staying with them. It was very nice and clean which is also a huge deal for me. He said he would make sure our room would comfortably accomodate us. Since it was too early to take our luggage to our rooms, we checked in, they put our luggage in a locked room and told us our room would be ready later in the day. Well we went ahead and had a very enjoyable day in houston and came back around 6. A different front desk employee again pleasantly greeted us and said our room was prepared and our luggage was already in our room so upstairs we went. WOW! We opened the door and discovered the gentleman had put us in a 2 bedroom instead of a 1 bedroom. My bedroom had a full bed and my mom and aunt had another room with 2 full beds. Each bedroom had their own bathroom and the unit had a living room, full kitchen, and high speed internet. I was absolutely was thrilled. Everything was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Had 2 great nights of sleep. They had good breakfasts in the morning and sunday through thursday they had free cocktails and hor d'oeuvres in the evening. Although I didn't eat the hor d'oeuvres as we had dinner plans I did see other people eating and they were quite large and could easily pass for a small dinner for those who did not want to go out at night. Very close to the mall (1 block) if you are interested in shopping or franchise/chain restaurants in the area. In summary, my mom and aunt thought is was the best Christmas present ever and they absolutely had a ball. They still talk about our trip and always include the enjoyable stay at the staybridge suites!!! Give them a try.

Selected this hotel based on two factors:
1.for great location to the Galleria Shopping Mall, less than
one block walk and 2. plus good reviews, clean, good staff.
This is an extended stay hotel, hotel provides 2 laundry rooms, each room or
suite has a complete well equiped kitchen, room or suite has living area or living
room with sofa, work station desk, chairs, tables, TV, etc.
Pros: Great location, homey hotel, nice furniture and decor,
very nice but not over the top, clean, well kept common areas, friendly staff,
very good breakfast selection. Food station and room is well kept, clean,
lots of choices. Three nights they provide a "welcome home" meal which was
very good, menu or entree changes, calendar on frig. in room has menu posted.
Each nightly meal includes a fresh salad, fresh toppings, very good quality, better
than at the restuarants in the Galleria, as they are fresh, two types of lettuce,
vegetable toppings of tomotoes, green pepper, cucumber, olives, cheese, etc.
Plus a dessert. Also, selection of wine and beer, served on
china or paper plates if you decide to take your meal back to your room.

Cons: On site mini-market was somewhat limited on items but nice that it was
available to guests.
We were very pleased with all that the hotel had to offer, good service, good meals,
great location and staff. Nicely priced. Quiet rooms, never heard neighbors, felt safe.
Overall, a very clean, safe,homey feel.
We stayed at hotel in December, hotel was nicely decorated for the season, very
warm and inviting feel, like at home.
Would stay at this hotel again.

My new employer brought me down for business and I was given a choice of 3 hotels in the area. I chose this one, but I'm starting to regret it. First of all, despite my room being prepaid, they did an additional authorization on my card, and a third card. This has greatly inconvenienced me, and even though the girl looking into it was very nice at the front desk, she never got back to me to let me know if that was resolved. Then, for two days straight I got no replacement coffee in my room, despite calling the first day and letting them know. Finally today I called again and it was brought to me. Tonight, because my room has a kitchen, I bought a bottle of wine. I called down to get a wine opener, and was informed they had "one", but the guy never brought it back". A hotel has ONE wine opener? Really? The dirty coffee mug in the cupboard was just icing on a bad, stale cake.

I'm here for 9 days, and come back regularly. You can bet I will reconsider my decision next time. Very disappointed.

Great location-- walking distance to the Galleria mall, across the street from a couple great restaurant-bar spots, and a few short blocks from a 24-hour CVS. The biggest plus for me was the free laundry, especially since I stayed for almost two weeks. I'd stay here again.
