Let's see it's in an industrial feeling area with few sidewalks along the streets (good luck walking anywhere) and a generally run-down feel.
The outside of the building is straight out of the early 60's (or older) with no/minimal renovation. Inside lobby and corridors are OK and the rooms have been fixed up.
So why am I calling this place a dump?
1. I just attempted to take the 8AM (arrive at 7:55) shuttle to the airport and the not-so-polite female desk clerk says "oh sorry, it was full so they left early - the next one will be at 8:30". Hmmm, there's a fleet of vans parked out front and guys who work here (including the Manager) wandering all over the place. When it's full WHY don't you fire up another van in order to take care of your guests? I'm glad I DIDNT miss my flight.
2. Ordered room service last night. I chose the Chef's salad with Vinaigrette and ice water. What did they send me? Ranch and no water.
3. Left out the room service card for breakfast - menu actually made things sound good. Woke up on the morning - card still on the door.
4. Heating and A/C are ancient and loud. Room was set to 90 degrees heat when I walked in. Nice little welcome present from the maid?
5. Restaurant (since there's no place to walk to without crossing a freeway onramp with NO sidewalk at least in one direction) is staffed by creepys. The breakfast (since they didn't bring me my room service) was low-end free buffet that COSTS 7.95! The guy "running it" looked to have pink eye.
6. Cleanliness. I've seen worse but the public restrooms in the lobby weren't clean (toilet paper all over) and there's a lot of hair that isn't mine in this room.
In such a labor market, why is it so hard to find good quality competent people to run hotels?
