“Delightfully Surprised!”

My job requires vigorous travel and I alway stay in 3 to 5 star hotels. I needed to be in Houston to visit clients and one that uses this hotel frequently recommended it. Like other reviewers I was a bit nervous after seeing some of the unfavorable comments. Overall it was a great stay! The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff was great. I didn't have time to go out for dinner so did dine at the hotel restaurant. Had a great steak dinner, perfectly cooked to my liking and the server was attentive. The complimentary breakfast had a good variety and the pastries were fresh and tasty. The Chef came out and checked on my table which was a nice touch. As a single female traveler I really felt that the staff went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable. Would recommend the hotel and restaurant to others!

“Some rooms ok, restaurant horrible”

The room I had was ok. My co-workers had to change rooms twice due to the smell of mold. The restaurant service when we first arrived was, to put it kindly, aweful. The waitress acted like we were bothering her by being there. I had to remind them at least three times not only what I ordered but that I actually did order. I got my food 45 minutes later...it was a sandwich. The dinners consisted of leftover pork that was so overcooked that pieces of it were black. The baked chicken, and fried for that matter, were some of the driest pieces of chicken that I have ever tasted. The restaurant just lacked any bit of quality what so ever. We will be going out to eat tonight. The shuttle was excellent though. By far, the shuttle service was the highlight of our stay.

“Horrible”

I am a experienced traveler, so I know what to expect from hotels. I stayed in 4 star hotels and I have stayed in motels. No matter what the star level, one thing there is no excuse for is uncleanness. We were a large group, so I rented 6 rooms. 3 of the rooms had a horrific smell.coming from them. I have no idea what was the cause, but it was nauseating. We switched all 3 rooms, and it was hit and miss. Some of the replacement rooms smelled, so we changed again. We finally all ended up in non smelly rooms, but there should be no excuse for such a horrible smell. When I asked the front desk, they appeared not to be aware of the problem, but they were lying. I saw the housecleaning crew carpet bombing an empty room with air freshner. if it wasn't for the smell, the hotel would be great for the price. Its an easy fix, any halfway decent manager would fix the problem. But trust me, it is a systemic problem with the whole hotel.

“Decent hotel for a one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

The Park Inn Houston North was an adequate hotel for an overnight layover. We only stayed there because our flight to Philadelphia was canceled due to a snow storm, and we supposedly received a discounted rate through Continental. The free shuttle bus picked us up from the airport 15 minutes after calling, and the driver was very friendly and informative. When we arrived at the hotel, it was a pretty far walk to our room because they are all on the first floor. Once we went inside, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious and modern. Our only complaint about it was that the shower head was pretty low down, so this made it somewhat difficult for my taller friend to shower. We decided to eat at the hotel restaurant because of the convenience. The service was really slow and the portions were small, but the food was surprisingly good. There is a McDonald's, Popeyes, Arby's, and Chevron about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. In the morning, breakfast was pretty disappointing. They mainly had just bagels, cereal, and some pastries. Checkout was quick and easy. We were a little angry because the morning shuttle left five minutes early, but luckily we still got to the airport with time to spare. Overall, it was a comfortable hotel for a one night stay, and I would recommend it for that purpose.

“Much nicer than expected”

I had read a few unsavory reviews, so I was a little nervous. This was a nice hotel. Nothing fancy, but very clean. The free breakfast lacked a little, but I guess that's what you get for free. The rooms were clean and beds were nice. Our room didn't cool as much as we would have liked, but other than that, it was a very decent hotel, for a decent price.
