“Great stay, great breakfast, great innkeepers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We really enjoyed our stay. The innkeepers were very nice and they prepared a wonderful breakfast. Our room, the west room, was very nice. The bed was VERY comfortable as were the surroundings. Our only complaint was that the only TV was in the adjoining sitting room but there was no sofa only two murphy type beds. Although we were able to sit on one of the beds to watch TV, it took away from the "suite" atmosphere not having seating.

Room Tip: The West room was very nice, especially if you need the extra bed space in the adjoining room. The...

“Friendly but just "ok"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

The house, built in the 1900's, is located in a charming part of Houston that we had never been to before. It has a lot of charm, which it's creaky floor accentuates. We only stayed one night in the southeast room on the 2nd floor and found it to be clean and well kept. There was a television in the room and the wireless connection certainly helped check emails without connecting to our wireless provider.

Our hosts were kind and presented us with a small but delicious breakfast at 9am, a time we had agreed upon the night before. And they offered some good tips on what to see and visit in the neighborhood. But when reviewing the room and considering the "bang for your buck" I think that the current room rate is a bit high. On the other hand staying at a hotel, one would have had to pay a little bit more to receive the same ameneties. But what's difficult to measure is the difference between the two. The hotel and this B&B.

One, requires that you drive out of the way to find a house tucked away in a neighborhood in order to find solid good service. It might just as well be profitable to stay at a hotel near the highway. So in conclusion, if you are looking for the experience of a B&B you have to pay for it and Sycamore Heights is a good first time B&B to get your feet wet.

“Great location in the Houston Heights area”

We spent three nights at this beautiful B & B in the Houston Heights. The antique furniture, art, and decorations were formal, yet comfortable.
Our daughter was married in the gorgeous backyard with about 150 people seated around the fountains, ponds, and flowers.
The owners Pat and Sergio were very nice and helpful. They also prepared delicious breakfasts. The homemade fig preserves (made with figs from the backyard) were divine!
We enjoyed the antique malls, vintage shops, art gallery, deli, and Italian Cafe all within walking distance. The neighborhood was quiet and well kept. There were other large, older homes in the area, big shade trees, and sidewalks.
We plan to return!

Room Tip: The West room is the largest with an ajoining room with 2 twin beds big enough for the bride and her...

“Reaches for the heights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

Lovely bed and breakfast. Gracious hosts. Delicious pecan pancakes served in cozy, bright sunroom. Great location--close to fun shopping on 19th street, and, being in the Heights, convenient to important thoroughfares. Would definitely stay again.
