“Robin's Nest-A Great Place to Nest in Houston”

Robin's Nest-A Great Place to Nest in Houston
We stayed a week at Robin's Nest and enjoyed the journey back in time. The Victorian house was an eclectic mixture of cyrstal and fringe chandeliers, harlequin decor, furniture that made you feel at home. It was a great location in the Heights and close to museums, parks, downtown, and our family.

We stayed in the Little Nest, a former two-bedroom home turned into two bedrooms with their own baths and an apartment with a kitchen and two bedrooms with a bath, We stayed in the latter, which was the Rustic Robin and true to its name. The beds were wonderful--we slept better there than at home. We did have a few problems with the bathroom door one night and the power in the bathroom another but Robin immediately took care of the problems and the rest of our stay was uneventful.

The most delightful or our time was sharing breakfast every morning with other people staying at Robin's Nest. There were two couples from Holland and another from Pennsylvania who taught in Italy. There was a couple from a little town outside of Houston celebrating their anniversary before an Aggie game. As we all shared our travels from the past, we also spoke of the day's agenda and gave suggestions on where to head off for the day. What a great way to start the day in the company of so many nice people.

Robin and her staff were gracious and very attentive to our needs. The food was excellent and they helped to make our time in Houston very memorable. We would return to Robin's Nest and rcommend it to our friends.

Robin's nest was a delightful way to spend our weekend in Houston. We stayed in Barbara Joyce's Room. The room is comfortable (fabulous bed) with a lovely bathtub in a quaint, quiet setting. Breakfast is delicious and fun with all the unique placesettings. Robin is really kind and great at making sure all our needs were met. I would stay here again.

“Friendly staff, great location, quirky decor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Stayed at Robin's Nest for 3 nights while visiting relatives in Houston, and what an interesting and charming place it was. The B&B is in an older wood-frame house with a lot of character, particularly the unusual decorations created by Robin. There's a communal sitting area downstairs and a lovely porch where one can sit and take in the evening air. My partner and I found the bed to be great -- no backaches in the morning! And we appreciated the fact that breakfast was not the overwhelming 2000-calorie affair we've often found at other B&Bs, just nicely prepared toast and eggs and fruit. Location is in a relatively quiet neighborhood, close to Westheimer and downtown.

My only complaint is that the shower drain in Antonio's Room was extremely slow, so that one ends up standing in 2 inches of dirty water the whole time. Oh, and the windowpanes were covered with some sort of adhesive sticker, which made the room a bit dark.

Room Tip: Stayed in Antonio's room, very spacious and comfortable.

“4 Days in Houston”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Location is close to the downtown area (5 minute drive). Found the accommodation suitable but a little tired. Breakfast was the minimum pass grade. Not a lot to eat, no choice but did alter for dietary requests.

Room Tip: We stayed in room above garage. Good space but small bathroom

We remember this couple. She had her eggs with olive oil, no dairy, no meat protein. Her husband had no dietary restrictions and ate everything on his plate. Very nice people. I enjoyed having them. I'll have another look at their room. I don't remember it looking "tired", but I truly appreciate the feedback and will check it out. Sometimes fresh eyes might see something we don't. The house was built in 1938 (the Third Nest), so, yes, the bathroom may be considered smaller vs. today's bathrooms. But it is ample room for one person at a time. Thank you..
