We were on the second floor and immediately upon entering our room it smelled like a dead rat! We called the front desk and they said someone would bring air freshner...that NEVER happened. The hotel engineer came to inspect the place and denied it being a rat...but said the smell was due to the construction going on....he too promised air freshner...that we NEVER received. We continued to smell the dead rat for the entire 3 days we were there. In addition to this, there is a Pillow Menu that the hotel says you can pick out what kind of pillow you would like to have (firm, soft, neck-contoured). We called to get a neck countoured pillow...NEVER saw it! The TV remote control had a mind of its own...getting louder and lower when IT wanted....the hotel computer printer would not work (which was an inconvenience when you want to print your boarding passes to return home), the hotel shuttle bus was misleading...the van only fit 10 people and made 2 trips to our destination...and the van did not run after 9 p.m. There was a continental breakfast...not free though, but for a price...and a glass of orange juice was $3.00. The only plus' to this restaurant was a free shuttle to the Galleria mall and the beds were pretty comfortable...if you could get pass the dead rat smell and fall asleep!!!

When I checked in the person at the front desk was polite and friendly! The room was VERY spacious with a king size bed it looked like there was new furniture in the room. I was amazed how large the rooms were which was a surprise compared to some hotels I have stayed at!

My husband and I stayed here for four nights over the Memorial Day weekend while we helped our son move to Houston. I did quite a bit of research before booking because I hoped to find a hotel that we could use for other visits. We certainly will be coming back here.

I booked a "Best 4 Breakfast" rate through Holiday Inn's website, which included a voucher for breakfast for two each morning. This was a buffet with omelets, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc., , along with very good coffee. This was a reasonable rate and a good breakfast.

Although earlier reviews mention renovations, these appear to be just about over. The property was clean and up-to-date looking. I was concerned about possible freeway noise, but we stayed on the third floor in the south tower and our room was very quiet. The room itself appeared to be freshly painted and had a small couch and granite in the bathroom. The spa soaps and lotions were a nice touch.

Don't let the earlier reviews keep you from giving this property a try. It offers a lot for the money.
