We had previously been aware of this property, having checked it out on several travel sites. Since we connect through IAH frequently on Continental/United, there had been times we made back-up hotel reservations in the event of weather problems or missed flights. The prices had always seemed good given the property's proximity to the airport, but we had never actually stayed there...before this instance. Furthermore, it was not our option to choose because the airline with our misconnect assigned us to the Hyatt Place. The hotel was apparently having a problem obtaining its permit to access IAH with its shuttles, so they were sharing a shuttle with another hotel or two. We were picked up where promised (although a bit delayed) but then circled the terminals looking for and picking up a number of other people. Since the shuttle was full, I decided to leap off quickly while my partner gathered up our bags. Good choice because there was already a long line at the hotel check-in counter...basically a table top. Confusion reigned throughout with ONE person handling the check-ins! When we finally got to our room, it was quite nice...modern, clean, bright and good-sized. Instead of trying to enjoy a drink and perhaps food in the chaotic lobby/bar area, the shuttle transported us to a local restaurant and picked us up again when called...much appreciated. I think we enjoyed the "free" breakfast instead of paying for eggs, etc. but really don't recall. Our flight was not scheduled to leave until the evening, and a real positive was they gave us a very late check-out without charge. This hotel voluntarily signs up to take "denied boarding" guests from the airlines. Hence, the long lines should probably be expected frequently, and since it is difficult to actually staff for guests such as we were, one should expect this hotel to be understaffed. In any case, even with all the issues at this property, the price was right...free :-)
