Coming came from St.Louis to Grapevine for a weekend to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday, we wanted a hotel that would accommodate our family of 5 with out having to book two rooms. The SpringHill Suites seemed to have the amenities we were looking for in the area we were looking to stay, so we chose to book there. The hotel was conveniently located is right across the street from the Grapevine Mills Mall, and a few local restaurants. The Grapevine Mills Mall was a good landmark to help us locate it.
When we arrived at the hotel, the lobby was spacious and neat. It had a warm contemporary feel, with a sitting area, fireplace, and flat screen television. The business center that consisted of computer and printer is also in the open lobby sitting area. The breakfast area was separated from the lobby tastefully. The lobby was very neat and clean as well as the carpet and floors.
Check in was quick and easy. At the time we checked in the front desk attendant wasn't particularly outstanding with his customer service, however he was professional. The other employees were polite at all times. One thing I'll mention is if you book via Expedia using a credit or debit card, you will not be able to change the payment form. They will charge the same card you booked the hotel with. So be sure you have no last minute changes with the payment type.
The elevators were well kept. When we got to the room we saw that it was very clean. The space was large enough that we did not feel cramped in. Upon entering the room you are meet with the kitchenette area and sitting area. Both were very nicely designed.
The kitchen area had a nice counter top, sink, coffee maker, small refrigerator, and a microwave that was in the top cabinet. We almost assumed they didn't have one until we opened the cabinets.
The sitting area consisted of a desk with a computer chair, a sofa which folded out to a bed providing us with 3 beds and small side tables that added a nice touch making it inviting. In-between the sitting area and beds sat the Television. This was a rather odd space to place it but it allowed each area to be able to view it with rotating base.
We had two queen sized beds. Although comfort level for the beds wasn't impressive, they had nice bedding. The lights above the bed had a dimming feature that allowed night readers to have light, while not disturbing those resting.
The bathroom and sink area were separated. I liked this because while someone is using shower, the others could have use of the sink and mirror. This arrangement helped our family be able to get ready with out having to wait for the bathroom. It also takes the inconvenience of the mirror fog effect from the shower! I think this was one of the best features that hotels could incorporate. The bathroom was of nice size. It allowed you to get dressed in the bathroom. The shower was wonderful. The water ran comfortably with a constant temperature we set it at.
The two mirrors for the rooms we large and rather impressive. The closet was a little small, but we only used it to hang up wet swim suits.
The overall all room decor was nice, and added a very nice touch to the room. It wasn't a hotel with your usual blank walls. You could tell they tried to provide their guests with something different.
The hotel provided breakfast each morning. Our family liked the hours and the breakfast food. The kids were thrilled at the Texas shaped waffles! They had the usual juice, coffee, cereals, breads, and condiments. They also had eggs and sausage. We did enjoy having breakfast in the well designed lobby. Our son enjoyed sitting at the fireplace to eat is breakfast even though it wasn't lit rightfully so, due to the season.
The indoor swimming pool area was small. The depth of the pool went to up 5'0 in the main pool and to 3'0 in the Jacuzzi area. Both were in service and well maintained. Surrounded by glass walls, the exercising room wasn't very impressive in size or equipment either. As I recall there were two treadmills and an exercising bike. There was a television mounted on the wall for entertainment.
Overall I would say the SpringHill Suites succeeded with supplying guests with the comforts of a home away from home. We would recommend this hotel to friends, and possibly stay there again.
