We live in North Dallas and usually take a runaway in the area once or twice a year for a night or two. Have been to Jefferson, Denton, fort Worth and of course downtown Dallas at ZA ZA and the horrible W.
About two years ago spent the night at a wonderfull old B & B in Granbry that is now out of business.
Found the Lake on Texas B & B websight. It was quite expensive but we only stayed one night and wow what a wonderfull experience.
First the grounds are on the lake and fantastic for strolling with a drink, the rooms are super clean and the bath with a rain shower and full 2 person hot tub (yes we are post middle age but not dead yet) is a romantic dream.
Its great because you can walk to the square, so no need to hunt a parking sport.
This is not a old home converted, the owners re-built the prop as a modern mini hotel, so some of the charm of the Craftsman type old homes is missing but did not miss any of it.
We stayed in a balcony room on the second floor of the main building, you could with a drink on the patio and look out over the grounds and lake. Talked to several locals and every one was friendly, even the guys fishing would strike up conversations if the got close to the bank.
Great pool, it was to cold to go in when we were there but it looked great.
Cozy room, fluffy bed and a great view.
Breakfast was in a separate building and was typical of B and B fare nothing fancy but excellent home cooking, we have been stung in the past at some B and B's because they tried to hard to be fancy, this was just right.
We will be back, this is a fantastic runaway from Dallas or Fort Worth and the owners are helpful with any questions about the area.
By the way if you go try the patio at Stringfellows on the square, its great.
Room Tip: Loved balcony room in main house
