My girlfriend and I stayed at the Nutt House Hotel (nice name, eh?) in Granbury for 2 nights during the weekend. The accomodations were top notch as far as the bedding, bathroom, decor, and location are concerned. The hotel has a very rustic, antique feel to it, so it fits in well with the rest of Granbury's town square. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The manager was very helpful when I asked her about other places to see. Those were the good things. Now for the not so good. The hot water system in this hotel is really weird. They have a notice in the room telling you that the hot water system is "brand new" and "European styled" and that you have to run the water for a while to get it hot. Well, that's true, but after about 5 minutes of hot, the water goes ice cold. You have to keep running the bath water while the shower is going to get the hot to come back and stay, for 5 minute intervals. The notice in the room even suggests as much! We wanted to notify the owner about the water issue, but there were no staff on site when we left on Sunday. You just leave your key at the front desk. We basically could have stayed all day apparently instead of checking out at 11 am like honest folks. I think there is a phone number you can call to reach someone, but that's not the same as having someone there. The only other issue we had was that the room had a very strong and unpleasant fragrance, probably from the couple of Glade plug-ins that were plugged in. But that's just personal preference. It probably would have smelled like stale old books otherwise, and that would have been worse. If the hotel gets the water fixed, it would be a fantastic place. But with that issue, it's just above average.
