“Awsome place to stay in Granbury.”

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in 2001. Stayed in the same room on our anniversary last two nights. I don't know what some of these people who gave bad reviews are all about, my guess is silver spoon types. The rooms are clean, comfortable and decorated very creatively with period antiques. The rooms are spacious with 15 foot ceilings. From the very first night, I knew the place ran on the honor system. On our honeymoon we were told to leave money in an envelope, pick a room/key and have a good night. Some people have a hard time wrapping their mind around this for some reason. Also, if the only reason your staying in a 100 year old plus building is for the complimentary breakfast, then you are the kind that determine a gift by the wrapping paper. The noise that someone else complained about is because it is on the square. I mean literally on the square. The walls are about a foot and a half of hand cut stone, not magic sound proof pixie dust. The woman who owns it is handicapped but very sweet and trusts everybody. She goes home at night, end of story. If you can't take care of yourself in an extremely beautiful, old, historic hotel, then you should either travel with mum and dad, or stay at a Holiday Inn. We absolutely loved it. On Thursday night we were the only ones in the hotel. It was AWESOME. We had the run of the place, but we too are honest, so we didn't smoke or take anything away but memories. If you don't sweat the small stuff, and just love a beautiful historic place to stat that's right on the square, then this place is for you.

“Extraordinary accomodations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

Stayed here for our 12th anniversary. So much nicer than cookie cutter accomodations. No ghosts...but comfortable bed, wonderfully natural light rooms with lots of windows covered with plantation shutters, & recently remodeled luxurious large bathroom. Quiet and romantic room at the rear of the bulding. Would not recommend for physically disabled though I have knee problems (but knew it going in) and rooms accessed by long flight of stairs. Was slow going but not impossible. WORTH THE CLIMB!

“Would Recommend”

I recommend this place if you do not want anyone bothering you. That includes the staff. We arrived after 5pm they gave us the key code to the door. An envelope sat on the desk with our names on it and their was a voucher with our meal tickets for the cafe across from the court house. The place was very clean.

However, I think this place might have some paranormal activity. We heard footsteps up and down the halls and we figured it was other guests arriving and didn't think anything of it. We heard talking outside and more footsteps, again didn't pay any attention, figured it was other guests. But when the door handle started jiggling, like someone wanted to get in. That's when we both jumped up and my husband being a cop, grabbed his gun and ran to the door and swung it open and ready to tackle. No one was there! We searched the entire floor and we were the only ones in this B&B. During the night I felt as though someone came in and stood by my bed. I sat up, no one was there. My husband doesn't believe in this ghost stuff and said its all in my head. He said the place is old and his explaination for the door rattling, he said there must be a train near by. I personally never heard any train. There were a few times we thought someone was smoking outside and it just came through the vents. It became really strong. So we looked through the windows and didn't see anyone. We again checked the halls. NOTHING.
So, I'm wondering if anyone else had any paranormal experiances in this B&B? I know there is a restaurant connected, but all this occured after midnight.

My husband had an explaination for all of it, door rattling, could be train going by. Smells of smoke, place is old and someone could be outside smoking and we just didn't see them. ME...I would like to believe I just experianced another paranormal event. So..if your not afraid of bumps in the night...I recommend this place!!

“Our 10th Anniversary!”

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our anniversary, and we loved it. The room was beautiful. We love Granbury anyways, and staying at the Nutt Hotel made it all the better. We had brunch at the adjoining restaraunt and it was delicious! Anyone who wrote a bad review about this place, must just be really high maintenance, cause the mgt. and the accomodations were excellent!!! We can't wait to go back!!! =)

“Fantastic, Unique, and Great Place to Stay for the Right Person”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

This is a terrific place to stay, if you do not want to be hounded by staff and you are not expecting a list of amenities such as room service, pool, turn-down service, or a fitness center. What you get is similar to if you were at your own home with 7 bed/bathrooms and a large sitting area. Once you get your key and the code for the front door, you are completely on your own--which we loved! There is a stocked fridge with sodas and water for sale on the honor system and free blue bell ice cream cups in the freezer. There is also a deep freeze stocked with ice. The rooms are uniquely decorated and full of character, beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are terrific--most with tubs and a separate standing shower. The place is very clean. The sitting/lounge area upstairs is warm, comfortable, and inviting. We rented all 7 rooms to house a group in town for a doctoral graduation party--this place was perfect! We felt like we owned the place. The location is on the courthouse square and surrounded by shops, eateries, and places to browse. The sitting area was a great place to eat, drink, and be merry while sharing stories, playing cards or games, and just relaxing. We anxiously awaited a ghost to visit, but no such luck for para-normal activity this weekend. However, the place certainly lends itself to such charm. The restaurant downstairs has closed, sadly, but is currently being renovated into a bookstore. Breakfast coupons were given for pancakes at the restaurant across the square. The owner, Melinda, was courteous and accommodating at check in and told us just to leave the keys at the desk when we were ready to check out. The housekeeper was non-intrusive and worked her way around the rooms while some were still getting dressed or napping. This is the perfect place for the right person or group. I highly recommend it.
