My husband and I visited this resort with another couple. The idea was for the fellas to play golf and the gals to enjoy some relaxing spa time. While the guys had a great golfing experience (great pro shop staff, great course, etc), all other aspects of this trip were horrible.
First, the staff is incredibly unfriendly. I had spoken previously with managers on two occasions to get complimentary upgrades to king size rooms. When we arrived the manager Sandra was rude, unprofessional, and very unaccommodating. She refused to give us the upgrades and instead charged us for them. Even other guests commented to us on her unattractive attitude. Others, such as Rebecca at the front desk, the cleaning personnel, and the restaurant personnel, were definitely more pleasant to deal with.
Second, the spa did not offer some of the treatments listed on their site. Additionally, the one hour massage I reserved turned out to be a 40 minute massage and I was charged the same amount after bringing this to the attention of the check-out personnel. I was told a manager would call me to discuss reimbursement of some of the costs/tips, but no one ever contacted me.
Note that this spa is not the relaxing, cozy type you'd expect at the prices listed on their site. It's bright, no soothing music, and at best you'll get a hershey kiss and a cup of water in a dixie cup. Further, for the women out there who are modest, note that men will also be lounging around in the same changing and waiting rooms as women.
Third, the so-called upgraded room we got was a joke. The toilet had rings all around the outside of it. Also, the hot water did not work in the shower. After trying to reach an operator for a while, we finally had to call security to talk to a human. After a while, an attendant finally got in touch with us. We were given a key of another room to go shower in, which was very inconvenient. Oh, and the tvs are tiny, there are limited channels, and the remotes for our room and our friends' room did not even work. Good luck with trying to hunt someone down for new batteries. When I brought the water issue up during check-out, Sandra acted like the issue had already been resolved (which it had not - I was in the room all morning and had to shower in another room and no one came to fix it), she did not even apologize or offer to comp us back any of our upgrade fee.
Fourth, the food was just okay. For people who aren't from this area, you should know that its in the middle of nowhere so there aren't many options for dining. You have to drive 20-30 minutes away, at minimum, on windy back roads, if you want to try something other than the one restaurant on-site.
Finally, the rooms are arranged in three separate buildings. Don't be duped into the "Elite Tower" - its just like the other buildings and is like two or three stories high. Though the rooms may be a bit bigger, you're relegated to the same views ("Resort View" - which is looking out to an ugly parking lot...or "Lake View" which is very pretty but can be seen from the other two buildings). Oh and when we requested Lake View rooms, Sandra said none were available. Meanwhile other resort staff (including the cleaning personnel who would know) told us that Lake View rooms were in fact available on the night of our stay.
All in all, while the golf experience may be great, don't come to this resort if you're looking for anything else. I'd understand that to be the case if the costs were lower. It seriously looks like a motel 6 and the service isn't even as good as a motel 6.
