“Comfortable country get-a-way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

We just stayed a quick night on paid-business trip, but impressed. The room at the Inn was very nice. Bathroom huge, with garden tub and shower, seperate toilet room, tile throughout, double vanity. Nice robes a great touch. The balcony was amazing - big with lots of furniture - but specifically if you are on the lake side. If I was to drive out there again, I definitely recommend getting a room at the Inn on the lake side. The view of lake with cliffs is incredibly. The breakfast was good and the service perfect. We didn't golf or use any facitilies so can't comment on that.

Room Tip: Lake view - not "resort view" that would be parking lot pretty much, although it is still...

“Relaxing Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We found mixed reviews on this resort AFTER we had booked our stay. We were skeptical about the place after reading some horrible reviews. We are happy to report that we had a fabulous time staying here. We stayed from Wed night through Fri morning. We booked a King room with mini-fridge upgrade overlooking the lake. The lake was BEAUTIFUL even though the marina told us that it was 7 feet under normal for this time of year. The room was large and clean. Two negatives was that the mattress cover kept coming off so the bed was lumpy at times and the air conditioner is super loud. Other than that, the room was very comfortable, the fridge worked well, great water pressure in the shower (didn't get a chance to use the tub), and the internet had a very strong signal and was fast! The desk clerks at the front desk and marina were not overly friendly. They weren't rude, but they didn't really give off a very welcoming feeling either. They were accomodating though. We were able to extend our check out time by 2 hours. Also, the marina is offering a 25% discount off boat rentals M-Th. Boats are a bit older and the price w/o the 25% discount is a bit steep compared to Lake Travis. The Chapparal Grille was decent (don't get their Grouper). The petit steaks we had on our second night were "melt-in-your-mouth" scrumptious! We thought the prices at the grille were overal quite reasonable for a resort. We also enjoyed using the fitness center (lots of equipment to choose from), the pool (great waterfall), and seeing the deer come out each night. This place would be perfect for us if we were allowed to bring pets! If you're looking for a relaxing time with a gorgeous view of the lake and sunsets, we highly recommend this resort.

“What an absolute joke”

My family of 5 along with another family of 4 booked a weekend here to have a lake weekend with my buddy's new boat. This seemed like the perfect weekend getaway. First of all, if you are going to this LAKE resort and you are doing so to go BOATING you will be greeted by inconvenience after inconvenience. The resort allows no boat or trailer parking at the facility at any time (the signs says so). When you launch your boat at the closest ramp, you also cannot park your trailer there. You must drive 3 miles back past the resort and park in a dirt, unsecured parking lot. When you are finished playing for the day you have to drop someone at the ramp so they can make the round trip to pick up the trailer. The "first com, first serve" dock is always full, mostly with jet skis.

“Fantastic experience at the Cliffs.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

My husband and I spent a day, night, and another day at the Cliffs Resort. It was our first time there. We stayed at the Inn in one of their nicer rooms looking lakeside, did the Romance package which included dinner for two at their restaurant and breakfast next morning. They gave us juice because we are not champagne drinkers. We also played golf and got 20% off our round included with the romance package.

Our stay was fantastic. They checked us in quickly and gave us a large, warm, chocolate chip cookie. We found ourselves in a room which did not have the flat screen television they had promised, but they quickly moved us next door to a nicer room with no extra charge, which had the flat screen. The lake view was gorgeous, sitting out on the balcony. The bed was comfortable, with a refrigerator in the room and nice shower, tub, and an electric fireplace which we didn't really need in May.

We swam in their large nice clean pool and had it to ourselves.

Dinner that night was fabulous. Their chef has been there two years as head chef. He came out and spent about 10 minutes talking with us. He is very passionate about what he does and takes great pride in it. Our steaks melted in your mouth and the whole meal was great. The waiter had been there 5 years and knew the ropes and he was terrific. Everyone was friendly.

That evening driving around the resort, we saw deer everywhere, including a mother and tiny newborn spotted baby. We went for an early drive next morning and saw tons more deer including mom and baby again. We later saw them on the golf course as we were playing.

Breakfast was just as good as dinner. Their 'buttermilk pancake' looked and tasted like a lovely thin crepe from Europe and was fantastic along with the rest of the meal.

Golf was also terrific. Tough course but a lot of fun.

Apparently, they are not very busy, probably because people don't realize they are open for business after all the Possum Kingdom fires. The resort was unaffected by the fires and they have been out for quite a long time now.

I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews, but our experience was top rate all the way around and we would recommend it to anyone. It was not cheap, but very enjoyable. We could have done the golf stay and play, but we figured by the time we paid for the dinner and breakfast meals, it would be cheaper to do the romance package which it actually was and got the 20% golf discount.

“What a wasted view”

To classify this place as a resort is such a misrepresentation. It is a decent hotel at best. I have stayed at the four seasons resort las colinas and it is service to the max. This place is a real disappointment when it comes to service. We were so unhappy with the villa that we switched to the hotel and it, at least, has a wonderful view of the lake. If your going to spend the money go somewhere else. It's just not worth it. Definitely do not fall for the villa!
