“Grandmother-Mother-Daughter Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2010

We wanted to take a trip for just the three of us, Grandmother-Mother-Daughter, so we decided to go with Bussey's Bed & Breakfast. They gave us a discount on renting both rooms, but you can easily pass between them if you have both. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. They have improved the place recently, making a pleasant hospitality room that can be accessed easily so that they can provide food and we can enjoy it at leisure without being disturbed. We sat on the lawn & porch and enjoyed, we walked through town and visited many interesting shops with friendly people, we walked to the Big Rocks Park and enjoyed watching the sun set and the moon rise. We enjoyed it so much we returned to see the sun rise in the morning. It's a beautiful area, the innkeepers are nice and hospitable, the room is pleasant with its electric fireplace and a pleasant selection of books and games. Very refreshing weekend. I think we'll stay here again!

We enjoyed this family as much as they enjoyed being here! It is a pleasure to share time with our guest when they wish to. I hope they come to see us again.

“It really is something special!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2009

My daughter & I went here for a Mother-Daughter weekend two years ago and enjoyed it so much we came back for another weekend and found that they'd made many upgrades and improvements. It was an enjoyable weekend, from the friendly but not intrusive hosts, to the pleasant & comfortable room, to the variety of foods available for breakfast and the opportunity to fix those in our own time frame, we really enjoyed the place and plan to return next year.

“Great place. We won't stay anywhere else!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2009

We stayed in the Cajun Cowboy room. It had everything we needed! Even a few supplies we forgot! I loved the country music left in the room. The old westerns were great too! There are supplies to make your own breakfast, but we did not use any of them. The room also comes with a well stocked fridge.

The room was cool and dark and we slept great! The bed was comfortable. The Busseys are awesome hosts! We would not stay anywhere else! It's like staying with family.

We sat outside in the garden and enjoyed the fish ponds. It's a great place to relax!

The Busseys also recommended great places to eat: Turn & Burn and the Riverhouse Grill (which is across the street!).

Bussey's Something Special is very close to the square. We were easily able to walk down to the square and visit the shops.

“Phenomenal Weekend Adventure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2009

What an awesome time we had at Bussey's Something Special Bed and Breakfast! If you love adventure, privacy, creativity, a clean place to stay, southern hospitality and fun, this is the place for you! My husband and I unexpectedly stayed at Bussey's Bed and Breakfast. We needed overnight provisions and were going to have to purchase them but - SURPRISE - the Cajun/ Cowboy Retreat room we stayed in was completely supplied with the provisions we needed. (There were more than you usually find in a motel room.)

The room was very creatively put together with a Cowboy theme that was well-thought out! It had a remote controlled decorative woodstove/fireplace! (Romantic!) There were so many decorative details, my husband and I were still noticing them as we checked out the next day! The room contained games, puzzles, CDs, Western DVDs, magazines, restaurant guides, comfy bedding, a VERY CLEAN environment, and everything you would need for a wonderful overnight stay.

The fridge was well stocked with interesting, fun and tasty snacks. The next morning we had fun deciding what to cook! We enjoyed the privacy and relaxation of just the two of us for breakfast!

NOW HERE'S where this trip goes from fun to PHENOMENAL! Mr. Bussey owns a really cool fossil shop -- lots of fossils there for a great deal! That's not all.... Mr. Bussey is a professional fossil hunter in Glen Rose! The Bussey's drove us around and pointed out some fossil hunting hotspots and we did find LOTS of fossils! What fun! My husband and I LOVE the outdoors and adventure. If you want a place to stay that is creative, private, clean, fun, entertaining and adventurous ---- THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! THIS IS LIVING ADVENTURE! NOT JUST A BORING HOTEL ROOM!

“Just like home. . .”

It really is something special. I experienced a quiet comfortable stay in a very "home" like atmosphere. We were able to check ourselves in and out without the hassle of waiting on anyone. We could come and go and even had a sweet dog in the yard. We were able to have a vacation yet it was just like home without having all of the family "commitments" of home. Would highly reccommend the "Cozy Victorian" as your home away from home nestled in the great state of Texas.

  • Liked — The feeling of being in a home versus just a room somewhere down a hallway
  • Disliked — They have only two rooms in one location. . . they need to build one in Georgia . . . more family could stay
