I stayed at The Tremont for just one night, but the staff treated me as if I was a regular or staying longer. I didn't even say hi at reception before the clerk had told me welcome you must be .... we have been expecting you.

The rooms were decorated in an old fashioned way, wood floors and very high ceilings. I had an internal room, which over looked the bar/restaurant through some French doors. The bed was so comfortable with big pillows and a thick but light comforter.

Only one bad point, the shower head was to low. I am 6ft and it was level with my chest. But, the water pressure was great and the kind of spray could be changed.

I have stayed at numerous hotels on the island and this one was without a doubt the best. It is the same price as the other big hotel on the island, but so much better. I am looking forward to stay again, but for a longer period next time.

Nicest Rooms. Spacious area on the king room but the Restroom was a little small. The restoration was well done but like previous reviewers the fact that many of the ammenities are at the sister hotel the Galvez Spa makes that a deal breaker depending on what you are looking for. But if you want to be a block away from the Strand and Cruise lines then this is the place to be.

The hotel is a well-done restoration. The only problems are that hall noise travels and most recreation facilities are at the sister Hotel Galvez some blocks away. The Tremont is near the port area where there are a number of restaurants and shops while the Galvez overlooks the beach - and noisy seawall drive (called a mudwall by one reviewer of Galveston sites).

This past December (2011) I stayed at the Tremont for the 4th time during Dickens on the Strand (http://www.dickensonthestrand.org) weekend in Galveston. Every year it just gets better and better. The staff is very professional and helpful in everything. The only problem we had was we were trying to borrow an umbrella and the door man said it was fine but the manager was not in agreement. There was a break down in communication between the manager and door man but it was somewhat straightened out. I will still stay there no matter what. The Suites are great on either side of the hotel. I recommend staying here for any visit to Galveston.
